Economy Comfort for AU on Delta

Sorry if this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me if Flying Club Gold card holders are entitled to either free or discounted economy comfort seating on Delta? The VS website says AU get access to preferred seating but it isn't clear if this includes Economy Comfort.

According to Delta website Flying Blue, SkyTeam and Virgin Velocity top tiers receive discounts or complimentary seats in this cabin. Was hoping the site just had not been updated.

I ask as I am considering Delta for a trip at Easter to NYC instead of my usual VS PE and will be FC Gold by then. Buying Economy Comfort certainly won't break the bank but don't want to pay for the seats now only to find I could have reserved them for free on hitting gold (they are non-refundable).

Thanks in advance. :)

Sorry to break this guys but 'Preferred' seating is not the same as Economy comfort.

For a VS comparison, think of it this way: 'Preferred' seating equates to exit row, extra leg room and bulkhead (DL give more options on this front - some of the window and aisle seats are also classed as 'preferred').. Economy comfort is plain old PE :P

At least being AU with DL means something as opposed to VX ii)

I flew HND-SEA a couple of weeks ago, and paid for an Economy Comfort Seat. As AU, I paid approx. $60 per person. There was nothing explicitly stating what the ordinary price was, or that this was a discounted price, but from looking online it does appear that this was less than the norm - suggesting that VS AU receive a similar discount to Delta and VA top tier passengers

Thanks for your responses. I am well aware the EC is different to the preferred seats. I was interested as DL offer the EC seats complimentary or discounted to their other partner airlines. Virgin is not famous for being specific about what they offer on their website!

The seat map looks wide open so I will probably book my DL flights and then add the EC bit once I'm gold in December. Either that or book my usual VS Premium Economy... I know what I'd rather do but not sure I can justify the extra cost... Or can I?! ;)

Just as an update on this...
I flew Delta on a US internal flight yesterday.
Too my surprise on check-in it was noted I was a VS Au and therefore it seems Delta "Sky Priority". I was told I COULD use the lounge, not a great item but hey, and was also told that as the flight was not full they were going to put me in to seat 11A from my orignal seat booking which was indeed "Economy Comfort" :D
So I guess they both do have something in common.......You never know!! :o) :o)

Thanks for this - I will report back once I make a decision and book the flight! May have to wait until December to hear if I successfully reserved those EC seats for free/cheap though! :)

Tried asking a VS agent on online chat who politely asked me to contact Delta to see what they could offer me... Hmmm :0

So I rang Delta customer service (which is actually Air France in Paris) and the chap told me that I would have to pay as a FC AU. I wasn't 100% sure he knew what I was on about though... :?

Since BA started their sale today, the VS flights have dropped in price for my dates so I snapped up PE instead. Much happier now that I will be flying VS for my trip at Easter and, most importantly, enjoying the Clubhouse at either end. y)

If anyone else finds out about this, please share the info as I would like to consider this option in the future.

Just as one further update to this thread.....
On my other internal US flight with Delta, the flight was full, I decided to try on-line check-in and was able to select Economy Comfort for no charge :D :D
So I wonder if it depends on the class of ticket issued???

I also got free EC on an internal flight - and that is having selected it weeks in advance of the flight.

Based on my two experiences - free internally and seemingly discounted internationally - it appears (I put it no stronger than that!) that FC Au members have EC access equivalent to DL Gold Medallion, as per the table here: http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/ ... efits.html

That said, it is ridiculous we have to work this out through trial and error - it surely cannot be beyond the wit of VS to publish the details!

Based on that token what's the chances that of VS AG being the same as DL AG? :D I'd love to have the baggage fees waved for domestic flights

As posted above if you are VS Au and you enter your Au card number in your DL booking then you will get access to economy comfort seating. I've done it about ten times already and it is very useful too, together with priority security and boarding.

Note, this does not apply on DL long haul flights.
