Upper Class with a 3 year old

Hi everyone

We are traveling on the VS75 on 14th Sept. in UC. There are four of us, including my wife, mother in law and our 3 year old son. Just though I'd ask, can one of us sit with jnr during take off and landing?

I know(hope) he will be fine during the flight, and he should be fine on take off and landing. He has flown many time before in PE but this is his first time in UC.

Thanks

JCC

As far as I know, as he will have his own seat, he will have to be in it, so no, you won't be able to sit "with" him.

No but from what I have seen in the past the cabin crew will dote over him and make sure he feels safe.

As the others have said thus far he will have to be in his own seat, as will you guys.

If there are any problems then I have seen CC and the FSM sitting on the ottoman right up until the last minute before and have always come back after takeoff to make sure all still ok. y)

In this TR, I praised the FSM as being better than supper nanny for taking care of a young'un.. Indeed she was the subject of one of my rare letters of praise to corporate, unfortunately this was never fed back to her v( The crew can be very good.

What we normally do if the toddler is unhappy sat on his own for take off and landing is move the toddler and parent into premium for take off and landing so they can sit next to each other and then back to upper during the flight.

We flew uc to las last year . Had a very famous couple onboard with there 2 year old . She had to sit in her own seat . But the cabin crew where amazing with her . As she was scared and could not see her mum or dad.she was left on her own for 2 minuites . From runway until 3000ft. Great crew

Only thing I'd add here is to do your best to reserve seats such that the little one can see parents - I know this sounds obvious, but the UC cabin layout is a rather odd configuration.

From many years of flying with a little one, I'd be absolutely amazed if the VS crew aren't wonderful with him, they'll make him feel very special, I'm sure.

Thanks guys for your great replies.

By the sounds of things we should have booked jnr in upper and we should sit in premium. :D

How about trying (if its still possible) to request seats in MMB so that the little one can see both parents? mum and dad in row A and little one in G?

On my first trip to DXB we had a toddler who was just a few days after her second birthday and so was required to have her own suite. Mum had settled her into one suite but it was not the one to which she had been allocated. Cue tears and a mini-tantrum. The latter was easily quelled by mum but the tears continued so mum was allowed to sit on the ottoman until a signal from the cabin crew to move in to her own suite just as we entered the runway. Once airborne, she was allowed to return to the toddler who had just noticed her disappearance and was gathering momentum for another onslaught to our ears, but thanks to the judicious handling of the situation by the crew, it never happened! :D

One seat configuration I liked with the little one is parents in, say, 3A and 4D with the young one in 4A...

But obviously, this could be 5A K and 6G with little-ne in 6G...

Anyway, I think the overall message is don't worry too much, there will be lots of support and help.

Obviously you know your own little man better than any of us but does he have a favourite teddy or toy?

My friend has 3 small people (ages 4, 6 and 9) and the 4 year old is quite a sensitive little soul. She gives him his favourite teddy to "look after" during take off so that the teddy doesn't get scared.

She also has a big smile plastered on her face to show that it's all an adventure!

But as others have said, the crew are amazing with kids and I am sure you will be fine!

Enjoy UC!
