SSCI at EDI now wants passport..

This must be a new change... is it VS alone? EDI alone?

Went to SSCI machine this morning, before an EDI-LHR (no onward connection) and the first thing the machine asks for is your passport.. With no option to skip/cancel/alternative.

Previously it asked for your booking reference and/or credit card.

Result was queueing for manned check-in desk, despite having hand luggage only.

Will print at home next time, obviously, but surely this is an odd move by whoever is responsible?

Somebody got their dates mixed up, the referendum on Scottish independence is 18 Sep 2014 they've changed the machines a year too early ;-)

UPDATE.

Contacted the airport, to investigate further.

Turns out it was a gremlin in the system...
There is no change in policy, and the machines have been returned to their rightful state, of accepting booking reference numbers..
