US shutdown and travel?

Have seen anything in the news, so assume this is ok - but...

Does anyone have evidence or information that would indicate that immigration and/or air traffic control services etc could be interrupted due to the US government shutdown?

Travelling tomorrow, so am keeping an eye on this situation...

Thanks for any info/thoughts.

CBP is considered 'essential' for the most part, so will still be going strong at the airports in the wake of this partial shut-down.

This article from ABC should give you a bit of a break down of the effect on most immigration services.

After what happened last time due to ATC being hit badly by the shut down and causing all manner of delay, I believe they are now classified higher up the ladder of essential services than they were before.

Best source I could find is this article, which should put your mind at rest. It looks to be the main loss is going to be R&D and their training program. The fully qualified ATC operators will still be in post.

I do hope this all works out quickly ii)

Thanks Joey, looks like there shouldn't be too much impact. It was ATC I was quite concerned about.

Now all I have to think about is tropical storm Karen!! Although, that looks like it shouldn't directly affect me, not as currently forecast anyway.

Congress people were never going to inconvenience themselves by allowing for ATC to be caught up in this mess.

Hi

Does anyone know how the Federal Funding hiatus is going to affect GOES application? - I've been 'pending approval' for two weeks now - and I'm not sure whether or not I'd expect this to change during the Hiatus....

I would be amazed if they were working but I don't know for sure. Although we think it is essential, they might not ! :)
