Yes to tier points, in addition to miles. In economy, 1 tier point for journeys under 3000 miles and 2 for journeys over 3000.

I didn't think there was a mileage limit on tier points with Delta ?
I know even on the shortest domestic F flights you get 3 TP. That means you actually get more on DL going from LAX-SFO than you do on VX.

Certain colours of AX cards get you DL lounge access.

Odd that they have chosen 3000 miles for DL when other partners only have a 2000 mile differentiation for tier points?

Presumably all to do with how generous the US airlines are when it comes to transcontinental flights.

I think most direct east to west coast routes count for about 2,500 miles. So flying, say, from JFK to LAX only counts as short haul (huh!) on DL but long haul on VX when it comes to earning TPs.

That pretty much means on any domestic DL flight you can only get 1TP if you are Y.
However, the 3 TP for F is conversely very generous.

Access to any of Delta's Sky Clubs (must have a transatlantic sector to/from in the UK within the itinerary, when travelling in Economy Class).

Also, what's the definition of "connecting" in this sense -- does anyone know whether the onward VS flight needs to be on the same ticket/booked via Delta?

From my experience only top-tier Sky-Team members got lounge access on First Class domestic flights. In saying that I got access to the Lounge when I flew to Toronto but I recon that is due to it being international...even though it uses the domestic first class product. The wording on the Sky Lounge webpage is not very clear at all. n(

I've been travelling domestic on Delta since the merger and reaping the rewards in terms of TPs. Delta operates an 'Upgrade list' for domestic flights which VS GC holders are added to, albeit right down the bottom of the pecking order - I've never been bumped.

Lounge access is not offered to GC holders unless there is a transatlantic portion of your itinerary. You do not need to be traveling on Delta or Virgin, much the same as if you are departing from LHR on another carrier - you'll still get access.

Delta's lounges do not shape up at all in comparison to VS or any other lounge for that matter. No hot food, just popcorn, nuts and blocks of cheese. Cheap alcohol is free, premium brands such as Grey Goose are $10 a pop.
