Hey all,

Just checked the girlfriends
Air miles and she needs 19,600 for a premium reward flight. What's the best, cheapest and quickest way to get that many?

Is there a way to get some point with out paying the price via virgin flying club?

We convert our Tesco club card points for ours. Tesco just did a good deal on DVDs , so we just converted ours and now have 180,000 in hubbys account ready for next years flights :) We both also have the Black Amex card.

If you want them quickly - ie in the next few days - you'll either have to buy them from VS or, if you know anyone with spare miles who's willing to give them to you, they can gift them (for a fee).

If you've got a few months to build them up, there are lots of ways - the VS credit cards, using Shops Away, using partners like hotels or Virgin Trains etc etc.

I've looked on the flying club site and to gift air miles they want £510, or to transfer air miles still want over £300?

Wouldn't it be easier for me to get her air miles up to 55,000 and then book to seperate flights as that way i wouldn't have to spend out an extra £300+

Also would it be easier to ring up to book the 2 flights? Or wi there be enough seats on the plane for 2 seperate bookings?

Get your girlfriend to phone FC and give you permission to use her account, then phone to make booking but you can then do it in one booking and combine miles. However your girlfriend has to have enough miles for each sector bought or upgraded. So for instance if she was 3k miles short you couldn't combine with 3k of your own, AFAIK.

Also, as has been suggested above, if you have some time (or is this for your planned NYC trip?), then use the FC earning partners for a while and/or get a VS credit card. It's been a great way for me to build up miles which I've used to upgrade 2 PE's to G's using my partners available miles too, and now I'm building up again for future flights. For example, you get double miles when you use the VS Amex to make purchases within the Virgin group - plus your bonus for your first spend.

If you've flown with VS in the last 6 months also consider a miles booster, very cheap and gives you the base miles flown or double base miles flown. All info available from your FC account page, then just ring FC and do it over the phone.

Hope that helps.

I did a dummy booking for just 1 seat using spend my miles and it allows me to do so which I assume is a reward seat? I wanted to know if there would be 2 available seats if I had to book 2 of the seats separately.

Wouldn't want to book one sets and then try do the other separate booking and it be gone. Haha

I make sure she has enough miles to cover the reward flight also which is 55,000 miles. And also I will get her to allow me to have permission to talk on her behalf. This was for my NYC trip I want to book for January 2014.

We recently travelled in September to Orlando and with the miles booster would I get this flying to New York? Once it's booked or can it be awarded before I go?

Well you can miles boost your Orlando trip if you haven't already. You have 6 months to do it. You can miles boost upcoming flights I think, from approx 6 months before, although someone with more knowledge than I may know better. For miles boost for upcoming flights it would probably not be credited until after you've flown. Again, someone else may know, or failing that ask FC directly.
