Just wondering what your thoughts are with regards to a cabin crew job with Virgin. I'm a 32 year old that's looking for a complete career change. Always loved Virgin and saw the recruiting ad on their web site. So, after submitting a very brief cv, I get told I'm proceeding to the telephone interview stage. I'd be taking a fairly big pay cut but, it's something that's always appealed to me! Any ex or current Virgin staff with advice or food for thought? Any frequent flyers with any helpful advice? I'd appreciate it!

Go for it you will love it. There's some great trips like 3 night BGIs and 4 night HAVs. It's hard work but a great way to see the world

I don't work in the industry but I would say go for it

I imagine it's hard work JayJay but very rewarding and of course you get to see so many places.

I was having a good chat with CC on my flight to YVR in the summer (anyone remember the summer, where's it bleedin' gone?), and it was a new route for the crew on that flight so they were very excited about seeing somewhere new on their layover. They worked hard though, non-stop.

I always think that's CC must be Teflon coated. I mean I get off a plane trying hard not to look bedraggled and exhausted and they just breeze off looking as fresh as they did at the beginning of the flight!

And also how they can look soooo good after a long haul flight when most if the PAX look mashed lol

That's because the pax have been boozing since long before and during the flight whereas the crew haven't had a drink for the best part of 24 hours or longer )

Thanks very much guys. I think I was secretly hoping for lots of negative comments (to make me stick with my current higher wage). Anyways... I'm only at the phone interview stage, so getting abit ahead of myself! And... I'm terrible on the phone! I'm a face to face Kindve communicator! Your replies are appreciated

The fact that the crew on most routes have access to a proper bed for a few hours where the rest of us have had at best the hard UCS at worst 31" of upright torture.

That may explain why they look slightly better getting of the jet than their customers.

Jayjay - Goodluck for your telephone interview. just go for it. Be yourself and I'm sure your communication skills will come across.

v( Oh this couldn't be further from the truth. A few years ago we may have been lucky enough to grab an hour on an East Coast flight. We certainly get rest on Far East/South Africa and 'some' night flights but the majority of our flights we simply don't have enough time to get a 'proper bed' to rest in. I use the term 'proper bed' very loosely. With 10 x A330's all with no rest facilities it's not an option on most flights. We're all just a bunch of glamourama looking people ): hahaha

My mam swears by preparation H for bags under the eyes, says it's miles better than anything by Estée Lauder or L'Oreal Is that what CC use? Hehehe

How do you do it, how do you manage, after a long session of work in the sky in a pressurised cabin that's usually hot, to look so damned good when you step off the plane?
