Making the 80TP Upgrade Voucher work for you...

Just called to use mine from earlier this year.
PE to HKG is roughly £1,300 per person over Chinese New Year, with a view to buying two of those and then using my 80TP Upgrade to get G's in Upper (yes, it needs G availability).
So, while on the phone, I thought a bit harder... I remembered that companion fares can also be used to upgrade with the 80TP voucher. So, given it's CNY *maybe* the PE Companionable fare would be similar. It was. Just add on the £200 in "taxes" (cough/surcharges) for the companion.
The result? A total of £1,500, using the gold card renewal companion fare to add the second passenger, THEN use the 80TP reward to bump both to Upper.
So, for £1,500 I now have two people flying from HKG to Sydney in Upper Class. All-in.
