I'm heading to SYD again on reward seats and although I had to book the Gs way back 330 days before departure, I naturally could not reserve the seats. A 90 day reminder in my diary was all that was needed and I was be greeted by a choice like this. I did my seat selection on the LHR-HKG leg yesterday and even on that busy route, there were only 2 seats taken.

I'm not sure exactly when the seat map opens for allocation, but I suspect it might be as soon as the 91 days drops to 90 days. When I did my selections yesterday, the note in MMB said 90 days, 8hrs to your flight.

What do you reckon my chances are for a couple of g fares to SYD this New Years? No chance was that?

My favs on this route are 8 and 9a

My experience is that T90 is actually T90 in California (or wherever it was they said their servers were)…..or 8am here on the day of T90 has been another theory….

Yep, same thing happened to us on Saturday for our Feb flight to MCO. Wasn't expecting to be able to request the seats until 1pm but checked on the off chance first thing and there they were - all red and just waiting for us to bag 6A/K - perfect
There is now no availabilty showing in UC on that flight but so far only three other seats have been requested. Clearly not everyone is quite as eager as we are

Had this on some flights aswell , as I think Honey lamb suggested at the time some people are just not bothered where they sit

I think it was about 6am on T90 that I could request mine

On my next flight only 4 seats have been requested at T30 and counting

I'm sure that might be the case for some but I think a lot of people just can't be bothered to remember the 90 days countdown.

As my family are all split across three bookings, I was hoping to request seats together for our flight in a few weeks time.

Logged on roughly 90 days minus 8 hours to request PE seats for our outbound journey and was fairly surprised to see that all of the requestable seats in the bubble had been taken and there was only a couple of choices in the downstairs cabin. Wasn't particularly bothered about where we sat, just preferred to sit together somewhere.

Logged on to request seats in UC for our return flight at exactly 90 days minus 8 hours and there were only four seats remaining to choose from.

I wonder if perhaps it is route (Orlando) or the time of year (Christmas) etc?

When I could request my seats for my Orlando flights (next week) all of the bubble had gone in minutes for both the out and return flights. I have managed to get 19C on the way out but am hoping for something in the bubble to become available just before OLCI or at downtown disney check in for my return on the 27th.

Virgin Holidays usually have a significant allocation of PE seats, so on many of the busy holiday routes a lot of seats are unavailable to request from the outset.

Any seats not required by VH are usually released and made available to request a day or two before OLCI opens.

On BA, I get free seat selectıon from poınt of bookıng, ıncludıng exıt row ın WT (as an AU). Whereas wıth VS, I have to waıt for the 90 day scrum and hope that I'm quıck enough. And no exıt row optıon (agaın as an AU).

Laudably egalıtarıan of you VS. But guess what I prefer...

Hi Martin,

Sorry I didnt reply in time to be of any use I hope you have had some awesome flights.

My favourite seats on this aircraft are located at a good midway through the cabin as to avoid any disturbance from the noisy louts at the bar ii)

They are central enough so you should also get your first choice of meal and drinks will come through quick enough too.

8 and 9 a so you are not facing anyone else and are near the central cupboard for easier stowage and retrieval of personal effects.

Personally I tend to veer towards the A side seats if I can as boarding and disembarking is normally done from the A side, so you can be a little bit faster out of the gate for the immigration race.

Thanks for the advice. I was in Hong Kong last week (on business), but the flights I'm referring to here are out in Feb next year, so its not too late at all .

Good point about the central cupboard. Its always nice to have your own personal stowage!

I have selected 8/9A for the HKG-SYD leg.
