Hi flyers! I'm travelling economy MAN-MCO Next week and managed to get 2 seats in the bubble. However after reading about the seat plus service, i managed to get an extra seat next to us for only £60! Has anybody else tried this service?

Personally i thing it's a great idea if you can get it for a good price, knowing we get all 3 seats to ourselves and in the bubble. winner!!!

My thinking is that if you have opted for seat plus then yes you do get the seat next to you but you will be seated where ever they put you rather than you have a choice of where you want to sit.

Also if the flight is busy, they can sell your seat plus seat and refund you.

I would be interested to know this also, as I also believed you didn't get the choice of your seats if you went to seat plus.

Seats will be allocated at the airport..

But presumably if you buy Seat Plus AFTER requesting your original seats online, there's a pretty good chance your request will be honoured and the extra seat you're allocated will be adjacent?

I dont think you can do OLCI with a Seat Plus seat

2. Passengers purchasing Seat Plus must check in at a manned airport check in desk in order for their extra seat to be assigned and boarding pass issued. Other check in facilities including on line, kiosk or mobile will not be available for Seat Plus passengers. Seat assignment requests cannot be made on Virgin Atlantic’s website or through a Virgin Atlantic Contact Centre

I booked the seat plus a few days after i chose my original seats and the seat plan still shows my original seats i requested on the upper deck.
It's a half empty flight at the moment plus i'm staying overnight at the airport and will be checking in as soon as the desk opens at 7am, so fingers crossed!

I would be interested to know what the outcome is I am using seat plus for my LAS flight in just under two weeks if you could update us that would be great, I booked seat plus prior to the 90 days so I am completely in the dark about what seats are free and where as can't see anything and am a bit anxious about what the options are although excited about the trip.

Bouncing this thread as I am toying with the idea of booking 'seat plus' on my return overnight leg from New York. Any one any experience of it yet Please?

Not until May 12th Benchsmith but would prefer the extra seat next to me free than be in PE next to someone on an overnighter.

TBH it was a waste of £60 as the flight had over 250 empty seats! So because of the low load they moved everybody from economy upper deck into the main cabin.

We asked if we could move back to our original seats in the upper deck and was told we could but no meals would be served. So we stayed downstairs, scoffed our meal then headed upstairs which was empty for the entire flight!

They didn't even ask us to return to our allocated seats for landing which enabled us to get off 1st!

But it's the chance you take. Highly recommended on a full flight me thinks

ah yeah low loads seem to be a common thing on my recent flights I have had to MCO when I have been in PE and PE and UC have been full but then EC has been empty, but I suppose that is one of the risks of booking, but sounds like a good flight other than the no food service upstairs but spose it makes it easier logistically for the CC.

Oh nice one, but I would rather pay the £60 and know I had the extra seat than take a chance, yes I know nothing is actually guaranteed, even if you have paid and booked !

take some warm clothes if you are off to Vegas this week, from Wednesday temps are forecast around 7c during the day and -2c at night

Thank you yeah I saw the temperature drop and thought really although wernt expecting it to be sweltering or evening like warm just about 10-18 degrees would be good but hey it's Vegas it's gna be great, thanks snomo

Greetings from Vegas strip, just a quick note a full trip report will follow, but seat plus is really good only downside is not being able to state where you want to sit, apart from that it's all worth it

I still wonder if the trick is to book Seat Plus AFTER you've requested your seats at (or after) T-90.

Still no guarantee, of course, but if you've already requested seats perhaps the system may let you keep them as long as there's still a spare seat adjacent.

The airport staff will allocate the seats as not all the armrests go fully up on all aircraft.

You may choose a row where they only go partially up rendering the service a waste of money that's why you can't choose your row.

That sounds like a good plan gumshoe. As I will be alone on the return overnight flight from NY It may work well for me if I request a middle of row seat, then ring and request seat plus y) .

just be careful with that, if the flight is busy, and no Seat Plus available on the day, you could be stuck in the middle seat

Well both ways completed on seat plus now and I can now definitely say what it is like with a light load and heavy load and both the London Experience and return leg of the journey.

With this I did not book the seat 90 days prior just because I wanted to get seat plus in as couldn't upgrade due to fare bucket purchased.

Upon arriving at the LGW Twilight check in service, I wasn't offered where to seat of asked if I had any preference I was just allocated the seat. I think this could just be the attitude / approach taken by the member of staff but that's what we received.

For a low load it was not essential to pre book but was nice to know that we were booked into our own set of three, we were in 53A,53B, and 53C on a refit config B747.

On the return leg when we arrived at the airport, LAS, I asked if it was possible to sit on the upper deck which the agent phoned through and said it would be but we only have extra leg room seats available which you would have to pay the additional £30 per person for this.

We opted to stay on the lower deck and was given 44A,B,and C.

This was the first row behind the extra leg room seats (beige coloured) and as it was a heavy load (327 excl crew) it paid off very well.

I have to say I am glad that I purchased it whilst traveling in economy and would have no reservations in choosing this option again.

Only tip if anything would be to get to the airport as soon as check in opens if possible to be able to get the best seat choice that hasn't already been snapped up by those not using seat plus.
