Hi Guys,

I know that most of the time there is no rhyme or reason for when a sale starts, but do you think we are due one before Christmas for Economy fares? I am looking to go to NY in late January, i recently missed out on the 4 day short but sweet sale, where i could have got a £370 return fare, and am just wondering whether to hold on..... Any advice would be great

On past form the main winter sale normally starts around the 21st/22nd Dec so keep an eye out in a couple of weeks.

With the caveat, of course, that it's not guaranteed and your precise route, dates and times may not be included - but NYC being the highly competitive route it is I'd say you're in with a good chance.

Preaching to the choir possibly, but make sure you sign up to Virgin's newsletter and also Opodo: Opodo often appear to have a heads up on Sales as I tend to receive their fare news first!

BA world sale started today, so hopefully VA will follow shortly

On a closely related topic, does the Virgin Holidays sale usually follow the VS sale? Or will we have to wait for Boxing day as in previous years?

Sale now on, just snagged a couple returns to SYD in Aug for under £4,000 in PE.

I was in the Oxford Street shop last month and I was told that the VH sale would not start before Boxing Day.

Hmmm..Not the sale i was hoping for, flights to new york have gone up from £455 to £520...

just received an email from VH with sale preview, says officially starts Boxing day

It's not all bad, £1500 rtn in upper to orlando is a pretty good offer in current sale

I need to book a trip to Dubai and a VH deal is the best way, so I'll wait until Boxing day.
