Ticketing Booking

Hello Guys
Wondering if someone can help.
I am flying on VS5/6 in March as part of a cruise.
I have booked the flights & cruise via Royal Caribbean as apposed to booking the flights myself.
I can get into my Virgin booking using my manage booking number and see all the relevant flight details however my travel agent is telling me I will not be able to pre-book any seats as Royal Caribbean haven't ticked my flights?
Surly if they had not of ticked my booking I wouldn't be able to get into the Manage my booking section?
Is there anyway I can tell if my booking has been ticketed?
Thanks very much
ZJC

AFAIK you can't select seats from your Virgin Holidays manage my bookings, it can only be accessed from the Virgin Atlantic website with the VA booking reference, different from the VH reference. This is normally shown on the invoice as 'Airline Booking Reference, Mostly letters with one digit.

New rules on seat requests were announced this morning. In a nutshell they mean for your flight in March you will only be able to choose seats 30 days before departure. And as airconbob says, you will need your Virgin Atlantic booking reference.

Great News!
Just paid for my cruise one month early so I could pre-book the seats as well.
Very Unhappy

Airlines don't usually ticket travel agent bookings until about 2 weeks before departure.
As it stands now (not taking into account the new VS seat allocation system), the only exception is Virgin Holidays as VS have a work-around in place to allow seat selection before VS ticket those bookings.

Think that's been the cause of the recent changes. You could never "pre-book" your seats. You could only ever
request seats which were subject to change.
Maybe the new rules where you actually pay to reserve a seat will help sort out any future confusion. ?|

Its all confusing. My travel agent has ticketed the booking early as opposed to the usual 2 week so we could book our seats.
However with the new seating rules im not sure when we can pre-book now its all very conufsing as the flight splits over into April.

As I interpret it, from Wednesday everything changes so for any flights from March 18th onwards (which yours are) you won't be able to request seats until 30 days before. This is an interim measure while VS roll out their new pay-to-reserve system.
Yes that's a pain but everyone else is in the same boat so you shouldn't lose out.
All this is assuming you're flying economy. If you're in Premium or Upper it's still rather unclear what's happening.

Thanks for the advice! Yes I am in economy. I was getting confused thinking people who were booking on the flight now were able to select seats for a fee.
Guess ill just have to wait now! Maybe tell my travel agent no need to ticket booking just yet.
