Enroling new member in to Flying Club

I wonder if anyone can help.

My partner and I are flying UC return to Montego Bay in March, this is her first VS flight so I dutifully enrolled her into The Flying Club, what I have since realised is that I should have done this via referral as I would earn some miles when she takes her first flight. I have contacted VS who say they cannot help once a membership number has been issued.

Does anyone know if there will be away around this? My fault but would like those extra miles if at all possible.

Any advice much appreciated.

Enroll using a different email address.

I would suggest the same, enrol using a different email address for your partner, maybe even different postal address unless you live together, she will effectively have 2 FC accounts and the newest one should be linked to the flight so you can both collect your bonus miles. This is, of course, assuming that FC don't cotton onto what's happened and notice 2 people with same name and postal address, but it should sneak by.

All the best.

That could happen: father and son or example.

Word of warming though, the rules of Flying Club specifically say you can only hold one account per person. If FC suspect you hold 2, they can close both accounts and forfeit all miles from both, plus any referred miles.

I'd say that's a good reason to be cautious. Could always close your partner's account and then in a few weeks refer to open a new account. Wonder if that would work?

I think I do need to be cautious, I tried setting up another account in my partners name using a different e mail & home address but it recognised that there was already an account set up, obviously due to name & dob. I am not sure if I can close her account, I think this is going to get complicated & may not be worth the effort, pity as I think I would have earned around 10k miles from a referral.

yes, you would have earned 10k miles flying in UC and your partner would have earned 3k. All the best.

I am hopeful that this has now been sorted. I had in fact sent a referral e mail to Virgin shortly after booking the flights, I had completely forgotten this, my partner has received an e mail from Virgin with a Flying Club membership number so I will add this to our booking & wait to collect miles.
