Could anyone inform me why VS073 is cancelled on the 16th July 2014, we have been moved onto VS075 just wondered why the flight would be cancelled as early as this.

Light loads probably. Not unusual for MCO flights to get merged in quiet periods.

Yep light loads. No point sending two half empty 744s when only enough pax for one

It's 7 months in advance, quite early to make that decision... I've not got kids, but isn't that at least close to high season for the kids holidays too?

I'm guessing VS will be using historic load data so they can predict/forecast months in advance.

Thanks for the information, still think its early but as you have said they could use historic data.

Our VS73 in Sept has been cancelled too, with us moved to the 75. No issues, apart from VS decide to text me about on the day I am flying home and give me a mini heart attack until I realized it was the September flight.

Found out this evening, purely by chance because I called Customer Services with an enquiry, not because Virgin notified me in any way, that our JFK flight (VS45) has been cancelled and we have been moved on to an evening flight.
Do they not bother informing passengers?

They've always emailed or texted me with flight time changes, but that's for bookings made directly with VS online.
If you booked through a broker like Expedia, it's up to them to tell you.
