When can you reserve a seat on the bubble as a economy passenger?
Because i was told today its only 24 hours beforehand.

It depends on when your flight is and where you are flying to. Virgin are introducing a new paid for seat reservation system but it is being introduced in stages and this has meant that they have temporarily adjusted when you can reserve seats depending on when your flight is.

All the info can be found on the VS website, this page is a good place to start.

As Neil says it's very complicated at the moment. When and where are you flying?

From online help:
Adam : There will only be a certain percentage of seats released for passengers to pay to pre-assign prior to online check-in, this may be a mixture of seats on the lower an upper deck.

Adam : We are unable to know if the upper deck seats will be available to pre-assign with the extra charge, or if they will be kept to assign at the time of check-in.

Welcome.

You should be able to select your seat on June 1st. If you're flying economy it'll cost £25 unless you're a Flying Club Gold member or you have a ticket in the most expensive, fully flexible economy bucket (Y) in which case it will be free.

Thanks both have booked through Virgin Holidays and paying instalments. I think its paid off by this date but if it isn't would I still be able to pre-select seating?

Interesting about upper deck as I think they would be preferred seats as girlfriend terrified of flying think quieter cabin would help her

You'll only be able to select seats with the airline booking reference (6 letters and numbers) which Virgin Holidays should give you in your documentation.

Whether they'll give you that until it's fully paid up I don't know I'm afraid.

With all VH bookings, VS have a work-around in place allowing seat selection as soon as the flight bit is booked with VS, so can be upto 11months before you travel and before you have paid your final balance and been ticketed.

All other T/A bookings can only select seats once VS has ticketed the flight, which is generally around 2 weeks before departure.

I think that this is just wrong. When you're paying to select a seat then surely you should have the pick of all of the seats on the plane (except extra leg room / emergency exit / bulkhead) seats rather than a limited selection?

Hi James,
Are you sure about this?, as we have just booked with VH to go to Barbados in August and I'm told we can't select seats till 1st May?
