Two class planes and Manchester to Vegas off season...

So considering booking some PE next autumn, and might be better for us to go via Manchester. However, the option to upgrade to UC would be nice, I've not seen a fare I'd pay for 2 years for it.

And the fact that MAN-LAS was supposed to be going to a 2 class plane, Y and PE for the winter months (personally I don't understand why summer is high season, but never mind).

However, I've never heard much about the 2 class planes. Just standard fare? Just lacks the seats at the front and more PE? was it 333's? What months do they operate?

The two class A333s have now all been converted to three class.

They used to operate flights out of LGW and MAN with PE at the front, but that cabin's now UC and PE is further back.

G-VSXY Beauty Queen and G-VKSS Mademoiselle Rouge. Both still showing on the aircraft data base here as 2 class, though not on airfleets.net. Time the database was here updated perhaps ..

So Upper is available offseason from Manchester to Vegas?

Is it usually the 333? Old suite or new suite? I wasn't as disappointed with the Vancouver new suite as I thought I might be, but it had the good IFE on way over, the better suite came with Nova/Odessey on the way back...

UC is available on all VS flights.

The Vegas flights are operated by refurbished Boeing 747s which have the old UC suites but the latest touch screen IFE. They only have 14 UC suites though, so reward seats can be few and far between.

Yes, I've flown both LGW to LAS and MAN to LAS. However, last year they dropped the UC from Manchester to LAS due to, I believe, low demand. Flew 333's during the wintertime.

You may have not flown that route recently, back when I last flew there, end of 2010, all to Vegas we 747's. I hope its back to that, if that is what you've saying is the recent config.

Of course more people might know with seatmaps after they book, anyone flown MAN to Vegas this year around nowish?

With the advent of Little Red, its not clear what days they fly direct to and from Vegas. Thursday and Sunday? I really can't remember (or indeed know if its changed).

I know they are so keen to sell the little red, but there's no way I'd do a five hour trip/layover via Gatwick to Heathrow after a night flight from Vegas, when its 40 mins to saint pancras and then 2 hours up the road to Manchester. I can completely see the reason and purpose of little red if you've going via Heathrow, but fly into gatwick and nightmare of getting between them? Shit...

Out of interest, in that case they just chuck you your bags and leave you to get between them, right?

Hmmn, I may have answered my own question. Past October there aren't any flights from Manchester direct to Vegas. So, no, no Upper on there, no PE or Economy either. I must have missed it when they dropped that route...

Guess its Gatwick to get the real choice.

Little Red from Gatwick still baffles me. Though shouldn't it have offered me little red + LGW when asking from Manchester post October. Mysteries of VS IT.

Hi,

The Man - Las Route is seasonal as neil pointed out BUT the route starts back up again at the end of MARCH and runs all the way to Oct. The Aircraft they are using is the 747 as I am using them on the 4th of May this year.

“Virgin Atlantic can confirm that it will temporarily suspend its flights between Manchester and Las Vegas for the winter season from October 27 and will resume services on March 30, 2014. The airline will continue to operate a year round service to Las Vegas from London Gatwick Airport.

Hope this helps.

I missed the announcement that it was gone, just heard it had been cut back...

Is MAN-MCO seasonal as well? (I doubt it, never seen the point of the house of mouse, but it seems popular across the country).

No Man to MCO is full service all year but they can and sometimes do change from a A330 to 747 and vise versa. Thomas cook Also fly seasonal to Vegas now on an A330 as well so there is direct competition at Man between Virgin and Thomas Cook further impacting loads.

I found both the Thompson and Thomas Cook flight searching pretty much impossible (I always get confused between the two, but I've heard both of them referred to when talking about near mythical flights to Vegas from Manchester or Glasgow).

I read a while back there were seasonal flights to both. Perhaps its the booking engine (no flexible dates, so hit the day of the scheduled flights or you can get to...) or the website (trying to sell you holidays, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW A FLIGHT TIMETABLE?), but I gave up in the end. Regional flights from both destinations would be useful, but what the hell, it'll probably a BA flight from GLA to LGW for my mum to go to Vegas, and we'll travel an hour further to get to LGW and stay overnight (VS of course)...

Thanks, weird that they fly to from Glasgow in erm, March and July only... Or perhaps that's when the sale fares are. Like I said, they don't specify the days either. Too busy trying to sell the place and not caring about such details as people who already know whats there...

No matter, looks like its an 80 quid return on BA to Glasgow. The 800 quid premium wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't about 900 on the sale of VS for PE...
