Anyone flown with VA who has a hearing loss?

Hi, I've flown with VA many times over the years, but not since the new IFE system was installed. I'm partially deaf and previously used to take my own DVDs to supplement the small selection of subtitled DVDs that VA offered me to use with the handheld DVD player provided, as the old system didn't have any subtitles at all.

I'm just wondering if anyone has used the new system for subtitled films, I have been told by special needs there should be around 10 films with subtitles to choose from in the new entertainment system, but if anyone has actually flown and checked this out, I'd love to know how you got on.

Thanks :D

My uncle is in a similar quandary... He has traveled on the A343 and the A346 and v-port (not VERA REEL) does give subtitles with some of the film selection.

I believe the new IFE on board the A333s and the LGW 747s is no diff and the subtitles are provided on some titles but unfortunately not all.

He is due to fly through LHR en route to the states on an A333 in a few weeks so will ask him to check out VERA touch subtitles and get back to me. Will report back.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help 8D

Thanks joeyc, I appreciate it, I didn't think anyone was going to reply, it seems deaf passengers are in the minority here on the forums, lol! I don't understand why they can't offer subtitles on them all to be honest, but hey ho, let's hope the ones that are subtitled are decent! Thanks again for replying. :-)

OH and I both have some hearing loss but hadn't even spotted that any films had sub-titles. Must pay closer attention. Not flying again till May but will report then.
We both find in-flight announcements mostly unintelligible, they sound like those on train stations.

There are films with subtitles on the VERA Touch system as well, as I inadvertently selected one of those on my last flight a few weeks ago.

I couldn't tell you how many though sorry.
