Extra leg room seats

Hi all flying LHR-JFK end of August returning September 3rd and after some information from an educated crowd regarding extra leg room seats.

My girlfriend has a fractured vertebrae in her spine and although this doesn't affect her day to day life in terms of movement or getting around etc she would find the benefits of extra leg room helpful such as extra space to stretch and move around.

Last year we flew with Monarch (I know two totally different airlines) to Turkey and after receiving a letter from her physio detailing her injury and recommending extra leg room they gave her an extra leg room seat both ways free of charge. We still have her physio letter on record and was just wondering if we contacted Virgin detailing all I have mentioned would they be likely to do anything similar ie free of charge or at a discounted rate on medical grounds. I have no issue paying full price for my seat next to her. As said we don't fly until the end of August but I anticipate the limited number of extra room seats may get snapped up quickly when seat selection becomes available.

Sorry for bleating on and thanks for any help/advice

Your best bet would be to give Virgin special assistance a call. They are a dedicated team who look after any pax that might need some special assistance, they will be able to advise what they suggest is best for you.

From what I have seen before, I don't think they will just give your partner a seat that usually requires an additional cost, but they will be able to confirm their policies.
