V-Flyer

Hello all,

Is there a cheaper alternative to booking through virgin holidays packages to fly va upper to MCO and also stay in Orlando? I was thinking a few weeks 3-4 also with car hire to?
I usually stay at a Sheraton so the i drive one is handy.

Or will flying using a vh package be the best prices?

This would be for September time

A difficult one as booking through VH does allow you to spread the cost, whereas booking through VS does men you have to pay up front.

When I booked a trip to MCO in May of this year (6 in PE) I found the booking flights with VS saved me 30% on what VH quoted

If I were you I would look at the price with VH and then look on expedia or another travel agent for the same flights and hotel to see if you can get the same package cheaper before booking the cheaper package or calling VH to see if they can beat the price. Sometimes they can so it is worth a try.

Note: for VH to match a price it has to be an identical package (flights,hotel, car/transfers etc....)

Thanks for your replies. I had a look on both VH and VS and did it all separately and as a package deal. i found it harder searching them all individually.
With VH the package with flights came to £6645 but the return flight was EC. Would i have to pay another £1044 to upgrade inbound, there wasnt an option when looking.
With my DIY doing it all seperately with vs and other sites i got a price of £6375. This was flights, hotel and car hire?

Also with booking seperate wouldn't I have to use a credit card for hotel booking & car? Will they not accept debit card or cash?

they'll want credit card or amex/similar, otherwise you may have to pay a hefty 'security deposit' upfront and/or settle the account daily

with diy there's no atol cover, but for VS/sheraton there's not much risk, plus you'll get the full FC and spg points

ISTBC but isn't it the case that, depending on insurances you take, that car hire companies take a shadow charge on your credit card anyway which is returned to you when you return the vehicle. It doesn't impact any balance on that account for interest purposes, but your available credit limit is reduced by the charge during the tiime the charge is effective?

True true true, but just pointing out the the cc option has a stealth cost if you plan to try to take it to the limit (one more time....)

I am happy to give them my Credit card when i arrive to add to the account for a hire of the car but can i pay the actual car hire price via Cash? if the hire was £500 can i pay in cash and give them my CC?

Sungod, ive booked direct with VS which worked out fine and yes i am happy to earn some FC points and SPG points it all helps.

i think cash is always acceptable, they just want the cc as security

Thank you. I do try. (MrsPJH can attest to that, as she always says how trying I am.)

have you considered a villa over a hotel, sometimes they don't cost a lot more and offer your own pool and a bit more freedom ?
