Hi Gumshoe,

Yes the flight i tried was leaving 2nd sept-1st october. Last night i found a price based on 2 adults as £1649.94 outbound and £1336.60 inbound? totalling £2986.54? and now its shot up massively to around £5000+ :0

I even took a picture of it last night? could i query it with them

You won't want to hear this Fordie - but Penny's right. The January sale ended yesterday.

Sorry, forget my last post. I was looking at the wrong date.

There is no VS28 on the 1st Oct, just the VS16. That's got 8 seats left in UC but no Zs (the cheapest). So you're both being charged the more expensive I fare.

That's just airline ticketing and fare rules I'm afraid. Airlines wouldn't survive if they sold all the seats at the lowest price, the flexible fares they sell allow them to sell discounted fares too.

Looks like the VS28 isn't operating at all that week. It's off season after all.

The next available date with two Zs available on the VS16 is Mon 6th Oct. But it's still coming in at £4815 for the two of you. Which sounds like the normal UC fare to me.

Bottom line is you missed the sale I'm afraid. Remember the number 1 rule of V-Flyer - if you see a good price, book it now because it may not be there tomorrow.

Do you HAVE to fly UC!?Yes, it's very nice, but rather than not go on holiday at all, why not just fly PE, even maybe just one way?

I certainly wouldn't miss out on a holiday, just because I might have to travel in a lower class for a few hours. We wanted an extra trip to MCO over New Year just gone, after two very expensive trips to the US already last year, the only way we could afford it was to do Y outbound PE inbound, far from what I would like to do after only UC travel on the previous trips, but we survived and had a great holiday.

Have you thought of connecting to a delta or jet blue flight in New York. With more flights every day you stand a better chance of getting a cheaper ticket.

ii) I like the service included, from the CH, to the option to having the bed on board. Especially flying a night flight this helps with sleeping. This wasn't a set in stone holiday i was curious on the costings really i think. We went in september for the 4 weeks which was great and a money drainer along with my surprise xmas gift of a NYC trip(used airmiles) but i would like to go but i think for the time being i will pass.
I might look to travel next september? possibly get a sale seat in january and go from there really? i do have other things to save and pay out for this year so would work out nicely haha y) y)

You could save about £1000 for the pair of you going via Amsterdam.

That's coming in at £2100 each coming back on Oct 1st, or £1900 each on the 6th.

You'd need to add a cheap flight to Amsterdam but you could still save quite a bit.

Alternatively - try another airline? Fly PE? Change in New York? Plenty of options ...

I dont think i can handle changing aircrafts and stopping off, i prefer the direct flights. I might wait until the next sale and see where im at and go from there. :) i would be going for a month so be good to get it right and not have to book for the sake of it
