Last minute G availability

Am booked on an S fare for VS200 tomorrow. I can see from flightstats, that there are x6 J's and x3 C's currently available. Is it likely that any of these will be 'switched' to a G in the next 24 hours?

I'd give the FC a call on the off chance if I were you. I've booked G's recently that were not showing on Flightstats

Flightstats never shows reward availability.

Highly likely they will be available as G if unsold prior to the fight.
However, VS have a bizarre rule that you cannot upgrade into G less than 1h 50m before departure at LHR 'because of catering' which is nonsense as they give you opp ups at the gate when they need to.
The other day a pax next to me decided he didn't want the special meal he had ordered (mid flight). Not a problem - he was given the menu to pick something else. If food is so limited how can this be possible ?

Get to LHR nice and early, go straight to the VS ticketing desk (not check-in) and ask if they're offering miles upgrades.

As JCBR says, they're often happy to fill unsold seats on the day, particularly if it means not having to op-up someone instead - and as Y and PE are both packed there's probably a decent chance.

(Worth remembering, though, that J6 C3 does not mean there are 9 unsold UC seats. It means there are 6 UC tickets available to buy, 3 of which are available in the slightly cheaper C bucket and all 6 in the priciest J bucket.

In fact it doesn't even mean there are necessarily 6 unsold seats. All airlines oversell - it just means there are 6 tickets available to buy, but there may be only 4 or 5 seats left and they're counting on one or two people not showing up.)

No need to wait till you get to the airport. You can give the FC line a call. I have been able to upgrade from a W to a G on phone after I had done OLCI.

Bah! UC fully booked. Even heard an agent say the flight is overbooked. Currently 'slumming' it in Rhubarb. No CH this time :-(

Bad luck. If it's overbooked there's always the hope of a last minute op-up at the gate, particularly if you've got status. But at the end of the day that's probably the hardest route to get Gs on - and Friday night's probably the busiest of all. And it's half term.
