Hello all,
Flying Virgin for the first time in April. We are flying VS019 from Heathrow to Sfo on a 747/400.
I see these are the older planes, I was just wondering if they have had a recent refurb or upgraded entertainment systems (I have 3 kids!) and their general condition?
We are flying economy.
Thanks in advance!
Steve

Hi and welcome.
The LHR 747's have VERA On Demand IFE, so it is a full on demand system with lots of choice. It isn't the most current up to date system Virgin run (VERA touch), which has the full touch screen etc, but it still a decent IFE.
The a/c haven't had a refurb recently, but the Y product is the same as the other a/c

As Neil says, the IFE is OK (but not great by today's standards). The general condition of the LHR 747s is also not great any more - in my experience. But it's OK.

I nearly always fly on the LHR 747's but did LAS-LGW a few months ago and can honestly say in my opinion the LHR fleet is very much the poor relation these days. It's not just about the state of the art IFE on the LGW/MAN fleet, the planes feel clean & fresh in comparison to the LHR 747s, the latter are now verging on tatty.
