Virgin Upper Class

I'm relatively new to this forum so thought I'd post in and say hi. I have absolutely loved reading the trip reports some brilliantly written amusing peices in there!

I'm flying to Mexico in April for my honeymoon, I have secretly and rather snekily upgraded our outbound flight to Upper Class, we're flying out of Gatwick, so have been reading up on getting to the terminal early for some clubhouse treats! This will be the first time either myself or my fiancee have flown Upper/first, in fact it we've never flown anything other than economy! The first she'll know about it is as we walk up to the UC desk... if all goes well.

I've put us down for 8a + 9a.. is that a good idea? i've read a variety of reviews about being next to or opposite each other.. unfortunately the very front 2 seats in UC have gone!

Anyway i wil ltry to remember to write a trip report, as i've genuinally enjoyed reading them.

Last thing whats the deal with SEQ numbers on here.. whats a 1, whats the differnce.. all very intriguing. y)

Welcome.....

Why not try to extend the subterfuge and try to say nothing until you guide your partner to the hallowed portals of the Clubhouse? I've managed it, and a poker face is something I have never been blessed with.

Same side is the best idea if the 6s and 7s are gone, and remember that you can opt to eat together with one of you perches on the ottoman.

SEQ 1 means that you are the first to check in. Means nothing, just a bit of a trivial treat and a test of your ISP's speed....

Not long now, have fun, and TR's are not optional... :)

Yeah SEQ just means you were the first person to check in (online), no bonus to it at all, other than bragging rights about doing OLCI immediately as the 24hour window opens, and being the fastest gun in the west!

Welcome.

What a lovely thing you have done. It will now guarantee a happy long marriage, albeit an expensive one..... :D

Congratulations and enjoy every second of the clubhouse, flight and honeymoon.

Welcome and congrats!

Just make sure your partner doesn't check the manage booking section or all will be lost...I suffered this fate on our NYC flight.
I had upgraded on the sly only to receive a rather heated phone call in work accusing me of spending/wasting thousands!
Incidentally, he's hooked! I came home one eve just after Xmas, he told me virgin had changed our booking ref to Miami due to some tech glitch so asked if I could double check all is fine using this new ref!
I hit the roof thinking virgin had changed our flights from LHR to LGW then I saw LAS and it dawned on me!
He'd only booked Vegas in UC! He's a keeper
Enjoy UC, the only way to fly!

Well done..! I was going to do the same, but opted for PE for outbound and Return - I didn't want to go out UC and Eco on the return as I would have known too much!

I hope it works for you - especially if there is a queue at check in and you o the old 'don't worry, this desk will help' walking over to UC... Does LGW not have the Clubhouse entrance like LHR - that way you could just drive in!

I recall reading on here somewhere that a friend was on the windup with their mate that SEQ1 gives you a free bottle of champagne and they went with it asking CC for this...

Thanks for all the info and kind comments, really looking forward to it, need to remember to actually work between now and then.

I fully expect I've wrecked flying for myself from April onwards, particularly dissapointing as my family all live in Sydney.. the next economy flight I do there in December is going to be painful..

Will update all with a report on my return.

Again thanks for the help!

HUGE MISTAKE (LOL!)
Why?

Because from here on out, you will never want to fly "sardine class" again. Which, of course, will make all your future trips more costly. That is the situation in which I find myself......

Enjoy every second of it. (Hard not to).

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage, very exciting :D

Enjoy every moment of the CH & the whole UC experience.......but you'll not want to do self loading freight again.

Have a wonderful honeymoon.

We'll be waiting for your TR.

+1 from me, if this is a special treat, DTCI is the cherry on the cake.

Y to Sydney after this... Ouch...
