Going to NYC on the 28th of march with the brother in law and I'm still trying to find a somewhat elusive G for him , got mine a few weeks back but every Friday in march is showing availability albeit at different times but the 28th just won't become available , is there something going on that weekend that I don't know about ?|

any big trade shows? I know Lady Gaga concerts are on

What's the load like? That might give you a clue about the chances of a G popping up.

Looking at hotel prices too, something has to be going on.... they are higher than usual for that weekend

The Upgrade Fairy didn't wave her wand releasing G fares until under 2 weeks before our outbound flights. Don't give up & don't feel guilty

For the return, I was able to upgrade my flight from PE only a few days before departing the UK.

The Upgrade Fairy waved her wand 2 days before our return & a G became available, but Mr Roxy-Popsy was happy with 79A in the bubble with my perks of the Delta Lounge( :0 ), his boarding pass stamped 'gold' for priority boarding,& my UC bonus of being able to check all( :w ) the suitcases in under my name so that they came onto the carousel first. And they did!!!!

Please do not ask how many suitcases we returned with but I did break out in a cold sweat :$ when we arrived at LGW, & I remembered we had only brought the medium sized car, not the Kia Sedona. Er, we nearly fell out before the key got as far as the ignition.

May the Upgrade Fairy sprinkle G dust soon.

Still no G showing up so rang flying club today , managed to ascertain from them that there are still 23 UC seats for sale on the flight so I thought I would change his O fare to an M in readiness for hopefully a G at the airport to be told it would cost over £600 !!!
When I changed my O to an M it was just over 110 I think so why has it gone up so much ?

Could be M has sold out so you'd have to buy into a pricier bucket.

Or it could be a mistake.

Just a thought but you could try 'phoning again.

01293 562345 during normal office hours or the pricier number outside of these hours.

Good luck & the Upgrade Fairy still has time to wave her wand.

Still at least 8 M fares left according to flightstats which she did confirm So can't be that .
Left me stumped to be honest so I booked him extra leg room and she put a note on the system , hopefully by checking in a few hrs earlier than most I will be able to get him one up in the bubble

Hmmm that is mysterious.

Could be wrong but not sure there are any extra legroom seats in the bubble? Only exit rows.

Just a thought Blacky, but what are your arrangements for your return leg? Remember that the most restrictive ticket conditions apply for the whole booking and it is possible they are affecting the price you are being quoted -- although seems a bit unlikely to me. But I've been caught out by this before...

Both on PE K fares , would that be it do you think ?

Sorry to hear you are still hunting for that last remaining G fare Blacky. Not had the best of luck have you.

With that many seats remaining there is always the possibility that the only ones in UC are travelling on G reward fares. If that is the case it is unlikely they will release more in advance of the flight. Fingers crossed though.. there are still a few weeks to go for R-Ps upgrade fairy to get off the couch and hover over Blacky towers.

More advice req on the subject of row 75 up in the bubble , I assumed that legroom might be restricted on A and K due to the raft in the door and the girl agreed with me but I've just read an old TR that says otherwise, also how much room is there between row 75 and the bulkhead in front ?

Think I will joey , it can't be right can it ?

Just rang back and this is the reason why they want so much money to upgrade to an M ,
They can only redo the whole trip ,not just the outbound and because now S fare are the only ones available in PE their system is pricing M out S back instead of M out K back ,
Unbelievably they can change just the outbound at the airport because ' they have a different system " .

Do you have to switch the PE fare class prior to check-in at the airport in order to be able to use miles to upgrade at the airport? We're three days away and still no G despite lots of empty seats in UC.

No ,the way I understood it is that at the airport my PE return is irrelevant ,they can just change the outbound O to an M for about £100 ish I would think and then upgrade the M to a G in UC using miles .why they can't do this in wales is beyond me

Well, I could have been far more productive the last couple of months! Just called Virgin and I'm on an H ticket, no other fare classes available in PE so can't upgrade with miles. Can only pay for the offer at the airport on Friday if available. All those dummy bookings for nothing!
