Anyone know if they are using the refurbished planes on the MAN- MCO route? Will be flying UC for the first time and wondered wether it will be the new dream suite.
Thanks for any info

Yes, refurbished planes, but these dont have the "dream suite".

We flew UC on the LGW 747 last September & the cabin was great. The entertainment system is great as well - enjoy!

I can't believe this question is still being asked a year and a half after all the refurbs completed. The internet always seems to be in a lag with actual information, but kudos to not use the term 'tired' which is used 99% of the time with the question.
And no, the dream suite isn't on that route, but that isn't an improvement, so feel blessed.

Flew out and back MAN/MCO UC Nov/Dec last year, on both occasions 2 seats had warning tape on them because the tables were out of action. There does seem to be a problem about the durability of the table mechanism.

Unfortunately our MCO to MAN flight last August in UC was not good. We had 6A and 6K. BOTH tables were taped up and unusable and my drinks tray was taped up. Drinks had to be put on the ottoman. The flight supervisor was furious as he said they broke regularly and he was sick of reporting it. We both had to sit at the bar to eat, but as it was a rough flight we had to return to our seats between courses! The crew, however, we're fantastic and offered no end of apologies. When I contacted the executive offices on our return they said that table failures were very rare and they had no idea why the FS told us otherwise....

I think that I am just going to have to keep my fingers crossed. This is a very special occasion for us.
Thanks for everyone's input.

How was your experience? We upgraded from W to J onboard VS076 on 3/6 and got 10A & 11A after having our PE seats reassigned prior to departure. Very pleasant indeed. Not the new suite and everything worked. Hospitality was top notch. Flew back PE yesterday (18 H&K) and that was a great experience also.

Good to hear of positive experiences. We will be travelling at the end of May and will be posting all info for all other first time upper classers!

I know this seems to appeal to people, but I'd never take 6A/6K on the LGW configuration. Its interesting that its a substandard seat too, but to me its the wrong angle facing the direction of flying, and even the ones behind aren't at the same angle as the rest. I know some couples take them as prestigous because they are closer together, but you've paid for UC which is an isolated seat, if you want to sit close to each other, choose PE

Not sure what I'd feel of a BA Club seat facing backwards either. Fine with it on a train, but flying?

Am booked for later in the year but will be avoiding 6A and K I think! Having travelled in BA Club World a lot, I always end up travelling backwards since I like to have a window seat. I don't really have any problem with it. Landing is probably more strange than take off but you can't tell when you are in the air!

My wife & I have sat in 6a&k a number of times & love the closeness, although you do of course have your own space as well. We have never had issues with a broken anything in these seats & have selected them again for our flight to MBJ next week.

Rarely post these days...
Did this last month, got awesome deal at the Airport (upgraded from a Econ-->PE Amex to UC).
Got seats in the nose, we were told in advance 6As table was bust, didn't mind, wife dined with me.
Interesting comment above if you want to be together sit in PE....?
Personally I prefer those seats, did them back from Miami in Sept, nice exclusive experience, doubly so when its shared with my better half.

With you on this one. I don't see anything "substandard" about the seats, it allows an element of closeness and privacy beyond what is available elsewhere in the UC cabin (you never get anyone "just passing by") and if you sit on the ottoman and look back you're king of the aircraft. Oh, and you're first at your destination. What's not to like ?
