Flying to BGI on a 330 in a 10 days time.
I am going to pay for extra leg room seats at LGW check in and wondered if anyone could tell me which are the best seats (numbers) to grab? Need extra room as travelling with elderly parent who needs a bit more leg room.
Is it worth the extra few pounds?

You won't have much choice I'm afraid as extra legroom seats are allocated for you when you check in.
General consensus is they are worth it although you only get an extra 3 inches.

OK thank you. So if I get to check in VERY early I should have a choice?

I have but they say I cannot actually choose the seats and can only do that at check in. I don't want to be stuck in the middle aisle, prefer 2 seats by the window and aisle (A&C)

We were on the first row of Economy on the Upper Deck and despite having an awful lot of legroom, the seats were pretty tight in width ...

You would have been on a 747 then julmops.
Those seats would have been exit row seats and they are always smaller in width which Virgin doesn't always point out!

A330 extra leg room seats are only by the windows anyway.
AC and HK

ISTBC but think there is one middle row of 4 designated as ELR seating, middle of an exit row so anyone can sit there.

Go for exit seats or bulk head seats, you'll have to get to check in really early.
