Tier Points - VS, VA or DL

Hi everyone, first time poster, long time viewer etc...

I'm due to fly out LHR - NYC in a few weeks and could do with topping up my tier points before then or whilst out there. Assuming time (and perhaps even a sensible use of cash) isn't a problem, am I better off taking Little Red flights while I'm here, or VA or DL flights whilst in the States?

It looks to me like short haul hops with DL in the USA (ie NYC to BOS etc) but flying in the cheapest available business class is the best way forward, but do any of you wise gurus have any light to shed or tips? 3 points per one way flight (under 3,000 miles) in DL business looks great on paper, especially given the relatively cheap looking fares, but am I missing a trick or about to hit a T&C snag?

Any thoughts? Please do keep up the good work and great information flow.

Mr G.

No, that's the cheapest way to earn TPs as far as I'm aware.

Last month I flew LAX to Oakland in first class for the princely sum of $156 and am looking forward to my 3 TPs!

Silly really, given that you could easily pay 5 times that to earn the same TPs on a long haul flight in PE.

Just be aware that it can take a while for TPs and miles earned on partner airlines to post, and you may have to chase VS for them so always get a printed boarding pass and keep it as you'll need evidence to send in if that's the case.

Oh, and welcome!

Have to agree on the internal US flights with DL.
I have had a lot of short hops from DC / LGA and MHT / LGA over the past few months and the extre few TP's just keep appearing.
Some of the flights have been as low as $59. Great value.

I've booked now two trips with DL and purposefully booked a stopover each time (crazy, I know!) so as to acquire 3 TPs for each sector of travel! A R/T to Florida for ~$500 has netted me 12 TPs!

You've hit it on the nail. Look for some really great DL First prices and work from there! And, DL is quite OK y) .

This is most certainly true. On my recent flight PHL-ATL-RSW, they only credited the first leg, and I had to phone them and forward a copy of my booking confirmation via email to get them to add the second. Was added in less than 24 hours, however!
