We will be staying overnight at the Park Inn prior to our UC flight to Chicago and using the 'Hoppa' to T3 I will have done the OLCI. Is there a separate 'Bag-drop' facility and which is the quickest way to the clubhouse? Any help much appreciated ?|

At T3 you can check in for your flight at any time of the day and deposit your bags at the UC counter, there is no separate bag drop for Upper Class and rarely anything more than a short queue. If you wanted to, you could book a local cab (if you can get the car and driver details) and ask to use the Wing for drive through check-in (DTCI).

From check in there is a lift adjacent to the counters, you go up to the first floor and head for a door to the UC wing where you scan your BP to be let in, then through the VS security channel which is very swish - depending on the time of day it has however (for me) gotten quite busy lately (I mean 10 minutes wait busy :0 ). From there, it's a walk through duty free and the terminal departures area to the clubhouse - depending on the day it's anything from 5 minutes to 15 minutes from check in to champagne. You do need to work the best route through duty free though (those of us in the know take no prisoners there!). The check-in staff will have a handy map to the clubhouse if you need it.

Thanks Slinky, we were going to do the drive-thru ( a friend was going to drive us) but I felt it was a bit harsh to make him get up at zero-dark 30 to pick us up so we can be at LHR for 7am (we would have to use the M25 clockwise on a friday morning :0 ) So decided to treat ourselves to the hotel and a leisurely drive around the M25 thursday evening. :D

As you enter duty free turn right then straight ahead. Eyes down, tolerate no distractions, and you'll emerge into departures about 2 minutes away from the CH. :)

Any hints on the best cab company to use?

Happy to pay for a black cab, don't want to shell out £60 for a Tristar car.

Already got the Hoppa tickets :(! 'She who must be obeyed' smokes, so the time getting off the bus outside will give her a few minutes to puff away before the 11+ hrs when she can't :D
