G - London to Dubai return trip.

Bought economy and upgraded to upper with miles - any idea what this will return in tier points? I know it will be economy, but as I purchased the upgrade with miles I can't seem to find my the rate based on the economy fair I bought.

I think you get tier points for upper.
I did MCO on points upgrade last year and think I got 5 points each way.
I'll check and confirm.

I can't go back that far, but sure it was 5 each way and you should get the same. It got me to Silver with a couple of little red's and a PE to MCO within the 13 months

Should just be 2/3 each way depending on what Eco fare you had I think

That's right, you only get tier points on the paid (by cash) part of your flight so depending on the original fare code they were booked in, 2 or 3 per flight.

On an M economy upgraded to G with miles I got 3tps per leg.

Aha, Sam, so you're my nemesis that meant I couldn't find any Gs to DXB on the 24th admittedly I was after 4 of them which was never likely so it's PE for us, but if you don't mind my asking, what date did they appear, might help for future reference?

You'll get 6 TP total.... 3TP for each way's upgradeable Economy fare.

I phoned va in feb to figure out a round world trip with great escapade (did this last year) but with syd ending there were only a handful of options. Rtn flights to dxb then rtn flights between dxb and Nz worked out the easiest. In figuring out this rather complicated route, the agent recommended the upgrading fair option. At this point there was a fair amount of upgradable seats on offer.
