I saw that too, a great shame to have no choice at Newark other than the awful UCDS.

It's getting harder to avoid the UCDS, if I can't secure 8G then I would rather fly PE. I also read that KLM are putting a A330 on their AMS-SFO route, hope VS don't get any ideas. Must be right on the edge of the aircrafts distance envelope!

Thanks

Ugh, I must have taken one of the last 744 flights in March. This is the only route I fly. I personally have never flown the UCDS, but my fiancee said it wasn't that great and judging by the comments on this board, that sentiment is echoed (loudly). Perhaps some day we shall be saved by the 787...one can only hope.

Opinions vary - I wouldn't try to avoid the 333 but I do always try to avoid the 747s unless I know I'll be in Upper and even then they are a last resort - usually the 45 for its timing...

What is it about the 747s you don't like ? The wear and tear because of age ?

Another nail in the heart of the A346 - my favourite craft by miles [excuse the pun] :(

I was on a 744 to EWR in april (and then back in the UCDS which really just confirmed my earlier dislike of the product). It's interesting that they are actually expanding use on the NY routes, you'd think it's a destination that carries more than it's fair share of corporate travelers with influence over travel policy...

The 744 used on the VS1 EWR rotation has moved to the VS9/10 JFK service as it offers better connections on DL from JFK.

UCDS = Upper Class Dream Suite (VS's newest version of Upper Class seat which is currently only on the A333 aircraft)

And deemed by most to be way inferior to the original product, rumoured to be "enhanced" soon

As far as I am concerned the only seats in the house are 8G,9K. Also feel sorry for crew who don't have a dedicated rest area and noticed now how they put curtains around the exit at the bar areas and try and grab some Zzz on the jump seats. n(
