upper class reward seat availability VS8

i'm flying on VS8 next wed (5.21) and have been looking at upper class reward seat availability for MONTHS now. still nothing has come up and, i'm checking multiple times a day.

seems that overall there is more availability on the later flight VS24, but i don't want to pay a change fee and honestly i don't think i can deal with the A343-300 and vera reel again. blah.

can anyone check load factors to see how busy UC is looking for that VS8 and whether or not they think a reward seat will finally open up?

if nothing comes up reward-wise ahead of my flight, but there are still free revenue seats by the time i arrive at the airport, does anyone know if they will then turn revenue seats into reward seats at the airport? or does virgin just let these seats go empty?

thanks! still crossing my fingers..

Expertflyer says 5 spare seats in UC on the VS7. There are only 4 on the later VS24. I guess there's a chance they'll open them up for upgrades if they're still unsold on the day...good luck :-)

What fare class ticket do you have? Assuming it's an upgradable ticket the change fee won't be monumental.

Maybe IFE is lower down my list that most people's but I don't mind 'Reel' really and the actual aircraft and UC cabin is perfectly fine on the 343s.

YMMV...

If there are still unsold UC seats on the day, there's a very good chance they'll sell you a miles upgrade at check-in.

Doesn't seem to happen as much on ex-UK flights, but on ex-US flights they normally seem happy to fill the seats.

still no reward seat availability but there are 4 upper class seats left for wednesdays flight.

spoke to a nice guy on the premier team at the virgin call center who gave me his name / extension and told me to call him 24 hours before the flight. he said that based on my status, if there are still free seats at that time he'd try to call the airport and have them release a seat then.

seems more promising to have that additional option rather than just trying at the airport.. so that was interesting.

will keep you all posted!
