Hi. Booking seats for my daughter and boyfriend- both students. I have never been on UC with upper deck and so cant imagine the layout.

I am thinking downstairs as they will like the bar- but unsure on front or back? All seats currently free- gone for 17a and 18a at the moment. Daughter been on UC many times- 1st time for boyfriend.

Which seats?

Definitely front downstairs - it's a mini cabin with only 14 seats and very spacious so feels like a private jet!

The section behind is 4 across and feels more crowded.

Most V-Flyers seem to rate 19A as their favourite UC seat as it's more private (and despite appearing on the map to be very close to the galley and toilet, isn't really).

So maybe 18A & 19A if they're free?

For a couple, 12a and k. Across the aisle but close enough to play footsie, and no passing traffic at all....

I personally don't like 12A, and K, or the ones behind, 14A and K. Being in the nose of the 747 means that you are tilted at more of an angle to travel (less so on 14A/K seats, but still true), so feel like flying sideways.

I can imagine that people recommend them due to the fact that they present something like a couples seat, but UC always has that in the sense that you can dine on your partners footstool if you want to be together for a bit. Or go to the bar.

We usually take 15/16A on the way over, and 15/16K on the way back.

True on both counts, but having tried various UC seats 12A/K (or 6A/K) remain our favourites. If not available then I agree that a 15 / 16 combination on the same side would be good.

for me right up the front. You don't get an overhead locker but the crew will sort out you hand luggage, and as a couple you are next to each other.
I don't mind flying sideways.

I have sat in 12A/K and I generally believe these are good seats. Yes the drawback is that you don't have any overhead locker space. Travelling as a couple you are close enough to see each other.

As for people say your partner can sit with you for dinner etc, personally I think the space is really tight and uncomfortable. For 2 set of feet below the table, there just not a lot of room.
