UC way out, PE back

We've just booked flights for November to BGI and are treating ourselves to our first ever UC trip, returning PE.

I think I have worked out from other posts on here that we really want to get 4A and 5A on the way out (as I know that is the side of the plane you get a view of the island from on approach) and to avoid any seats in the middle (A330). I hope that is correct?

On the way back we're on a 747 and we've only ever flown PE in the old 747 config where we chose upstairs. Having been on the new 747 config with economy upstairs with some of the PE, I am not sure what to choose. We used to try and get the seats at the back of the front block upstairs on the left (A/C), so we could put our seat back and not disturb anyone, but this would be backing onto economy now, so not sure about that. Are there any recline restrictions on any of the back row PE seats downstairs? Can't book our seats yet, anyway, but when we can I want to make sure we get the right ones! Thanks for any help.

Also, any tips we should know for using the clubhouse at LGW, as never been there before?

The A330 (A333)seats in the window aisles (A and K) are from memory 5 inches longer when converted to a bed, so you may not notice it on a day flight, but the craning of the neck is still worth the window. Personally we like seats a bit further back 6a and 7a but that's more being old and set in my ways than anything else!

Where are you off to in BGI (my favourite Caribbean Island by far)?

I can't help with PE seats on the return I'm afraid.

Also 7D on the A333 is much wider due to the space remaining between the corrugated iron wall and the bar. You cannot hear a peep from the bar, it's well insulated. I try and nab that as much as I can for night flights.

The back seats in PE recline fully.
Look in the toolbox for seat recommendations and I think row19 which is the back of PE comes out top for the Gatwick config.
We just flew back from MCO in row 19 and were first off the plane and straight through Border Control and customs.

Hi Lucy, we flew to Montego Bay last year in PE & had seats 24 H&K (back row of PE upstairs) and they were great. They have full recline & back on to the exit so no-one behind you. The curtain was drawn between Y & PE which made our cabin nice & private.

For the PE return I'm also fully in the 19AC camp.

If this are greyed out on the seat map does this mean they have already been taken or are they only available at certain times ??

Row19 shouldn't be greyed our unless it has been selected by somebody else.

It seems we have had a change of heart. I thought I wanted 19AC, but apparently next flight we take in PE will be 14AC if available to get the extra legroom.

Thanks for your assistance. We'll try for the rows suggested in PE. Definitely want to be in A seats in UC on the way out as I like to look at the island as we come in to land.

This will be my 24th trip to BGI, but my first in UC, and our first trip in PE since the planes/configs were changed. I'm so excited already with 5 months to go!
