Hello,
I hope I'm posting in the right place to introduce myself. I have lurked for a while but wish I'd discovered this forum before booking my flights as it's a mine of information (and I have much to learn but am v excited as I love aeroplanes and flying!).
So, hello and thanks for the information I've gleaned so far :)
I have, this very morning, finally got through to VS customer service (long hold times of over an hour on three occasions this weekend!)and upgraded from economy to PE on my outbound flight to JFK on a A330-600. The seat plan opens next Sunday so could anyone advise me on which would be the best three seats to pre-book please? I am traveling with my two (well-behaved, lovely)teenagers (an oxymoron, I know!)and it's their first time to NYC. There is another reason why I wish to make it as special as possible but I would like them to have an amazing time from the off.
Sorry for the probably boring question - I have looked at the seat plan reviews and some say don't sit near WC but others like being at the back! Of course, the best option is me in UC and them elsewhere but that won't be happening ha ha!
Thank you in advance and btw I love reading the Travel Reports

the first row will have the bulkhead in front so less leg room to sprawl into, if you're tall this is the main factor to consider, also the tray tables in the armrest are less convenient and take up some width, no seat in front to stash things under/on, on the plus side no one in front will recline into you, but these are the ones i'd avoid myself

the rear row may have the proximity to the toilets, but you can recline fully without guilt

personally i'd go for rear row for the recline, unless something hideous happens there's not likely to be real disturbance from the toilets especially as it's a day flight, or the row behind the first one as you get off a bit quicker to join the immigration queue

book a bottle of bubbly and one glass, then you'll be certain to have a great trip

Hi Peony

Welcome! Pleased a lurker has joined :)

Do post what seats you're able to request (remembering that seats are request only, not booked).

Everyone has their likes & dislikes about where to sit (even those slumming it in UC ;) )

Have you posted your flights in Itineraries? Sometimes V-Flyers can meet up & pass the time of day together if they so wish either before the flight or onboard.

Looking forward to your Trip Reports in due course.

Flew a few weeks back - 22A & C. At the back of the cabin so you have guilt free recline - 2 windows and couldn't have asked for a better seat...

Dear All,

Thanks so much for your really useful replies! I'm very grateful!
Sungod - very good advice about being on the front row; some points that I hadn't thought of, particularly regarding stowing hand luggage. Yes, I think back row could be the ones to go for!
Hi Roxy-Popsy! Yes, a lurker coming out from the shadows ha ha! Hope that doesn't sound too creepy! Anyway, I am going to try to limit myself to perusing at lunch-times at work otherwise I'll be mooching all day long! But I will try to post my flight in itineries, and any other bits if it's of interest.
Yes, the trip report is 'only polite' having read so many (including yours Daniel! Sounded fabulous! Congrats too!). I suspect it'll be a slightly unusual one though; sadly, we are travelling with my late partner's ashes hence why I wanted it to be as stress-free as possible and why we're in PE on the way out. This is why I've been lurking - trying to find out any information about how you do this. I couldn't find any and so I thought if I joined and then shared, should anyone else be in this terrible situation then they would have some answers. Anyway, that's what we're doing. Do you think I should still do a TR?

So, thanks for your replies :) Very kind of you and lovely to meet you!
I keep looking out at the clouds and wishing I was in the sky instead of behind a desk! Hope your Monday is full of day-dreams too :)
