A somewhat crass question I know, but do the crew really mind if passengers in UC don't return the cute salt & pepper shakers after use? Anyone been chastised for it?

I think they expect a few to go missing, after all it does say "pinched from Virgin Atlantic" on their feet.
Never received a formal warning or had the captain divert the plane, yet!

I have 18 sets to enable my Christmas guests to have a personal set each.

Just be very careful how you place them in your handbag, all the salt falls out

The sick bag provides a suitable container to stop salt going everywhere.

Isnt that what the upper class felt bag thing is meant for? useless for anything else but holds the salts quite well.

Otherwise as you go through security at LHR they seem to make you repack toiletries into one of their plastic bags. Then put your toiletries back into your own bag. Use plastic bag to fill with sweets from sweet counter. Put sweets into useless UC felt bag and salt/pepper into plastic bag.

Simples.

You could do what I did, and just asked for them. They were returned - wrapped!

I realise on reflection that my approach is over complicated! Just take extra security bags for them. usually by the time i get to salt pinching I have had a few cocktails in the clubhouse and champagne on the plane.

Don't feel that way...we all have to get used to these unwritten 'rules'. Take my advice though, don't hide them in your hat...an unexpected showering of salt can be quite unwelcome

I got told off by the crew 2 nights ago at the tiki bar here in Miami, simon dobbed me in! He told them he found a pair in our bag!
They said they were all counted for and someone would go w/out on the way home! They might have been pulling my leg though, we were tipsy!

We asked for them, or should I say Mrs Armstrong did - we were told that they 'are all accounted for and we couldn't have them'. However, it was pointed out that the sick bag provided would be a great idea to avoid any spillages...

I think the crew are used to it - and its kind of an un written rule...

Ow, these were the black plastic ones in PE - not the super metal ones in UC. These will be on my next flight if all goes to plan!

Metal? Silver plastic, or were we duped

On our last UC flight Mrs BB asked and was given 2 sets in an (unused) sick bag.

Mrs Hull and I have several pairs of Silver and Black Wilbur and Orville sets as well as a couple of the once trialled Cocktail Shakers.

No doubt we will be adding to the collection this week, and who knows an UC onesie too

As my first UC flight approaches (in the distance anyway!), is there anything else other than the salt/pepper shakers that tends to follow you off the plane?

I usually hoard the menu, but that's about it. The only other item I've coveted is the mug they use to serve hot chocolate...

Slightly off topic, but the crew were unaware of the onesie being made available on flights. They thought it was for competition winners with only 1000 available .
I'm still hopeful for the return!

I believe the onesie is only a trial on one day in June only. (not sure of the date)

Last UC flight we were given the black ones, which I thought was a "service improvement". Turns out those were the PE ones.

Am I the only forum user who believes taking items without asking is theft, pure and simple? The fact the crew "expect it" is no excuse. Tesco expect items to be taken without paying from their stores, they just employ store detectives to combat it!

I shall have to watch my belongings more closely next time I fly VS!!!

True, however there is a slight difference here. Tesco would not prosecute you for taking a grape and as most PAX have paid in the region of £1,000 for their flight to get to this level salt and pepper shakers (that have on the bottom a message about being stolen already!) this is what we are talking about.

I would always ask - and the crew would be more than willing to let you walk off with them if this was the case. Lets be honest, when someone comes over and clocks them I would then talk about VS and recommend them. For the cost (I would guess about 5p a pair if purchased in bulk as they would) it is a very good marketing ploy!

Also - are these really metal in UC of plastic..?!

Mine are on my desk, silver plastic ones.....requested & generously given although the FA I asked was a little surprised i'd asked saying thet they only ever expect to get back a small % from each flight anyway.
I'm trying to uplaod a picture but no idea how!!

When the 51% owner says "pinch them while you can" it's not theft.

Please read Section 1 & 2 of the Theft Act 1968 and you'll see it is not theft.
