Companion Ticket Upgrade Question

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question regards the companion tix. I realise they are pretty useless but what about this scenario???

If I buy an M class fare with a view to upgrade with miles, I can technically match that M class by using my companion voucher allowing my missus an economy seat for just taxes and charges. What class of ticket does that mean my companion is placed in? I'm guessing a reward class or something? As there seems no point of me upgrading if I can't then also upgrade the missus. Then again...... :D

Ideally I want to purchase an M, get another M for Mrs C with a companion voucher and then upgrade both with miles. I'm guessing this is a no go. Thus further rendering the companion a step more pointless than originally already thought.

If yes, has anyone every really found a good worthwhile use for the companion voucher.

Thanks in advance y)

Scott

You cannot upgrade the companion ticket with miles or cash, so that would not work for what you are looking at I am afraid.

The BA companion scheme is pretty much the reverse of VA's *and* it's usable. Unlike the VA scheme where a cash ticket needs to be bought the BA scheme is based on full reward redemption and then quite literally two of you go for the cost of one. Zero fare outlay, half the miles for redemption & half the cash for tax. Has anyone here ever used the VA companion scheme?
