Hi. I was talking to a virgin cabin crew member who uses our shop yesterday and she seems to think there'll be a aircraft change early 2015 probably 747 gatwick to orlando route, anybody know anymore regarding this.

Might be getting confused with the 787 intro's.

So far 787's are only coming to LHR to replace the 340/747 fleet there.

With the leases extended only recently on the LGW 747's (and the recent refurbs) there isn't going to be any major changes.

They *might* put an A330 on one of the flights some days if the loads are quiet or a 747 is needed elsewhere / for maintenance, but those a/c are the best fit by a long way for the Y heavy MCO loads.

I know they are looking at focusing the 787 on the new routes (meaning the advertised existing routes where the787 is new) however Virgin have mentioned about having the fluidity (is that the right word?) to move the fleet is required so could it be possible to use the aircraft for a one off option or maybe once every few weeks if there is a very low load and the 747 would be too costly and the 330 are all being used for the DBX DEL BOS JFK EWR YVR?

just done a quick search through the aircrafts currently allocated and it is only showing B744 aircraft.

Only change is Tuesdays mainly through January have no service from LGW to MCO.

The Tuesday service appears to resume in Feb but up to the end of March there is non change in aircraft.

There's always been a bit fluidity in the fleet. Classic example is a LHR 747 covering the BGI route in winter due to the increased Upper capacity.
