Twilight Luggage Drop

This is probably a real newbie question.
We're flying to Mexico from Gatwick in a few weeks time, staying at the Holiday Inn the night before.
How does twilight luggage drop off work? Is there some drop off parking at the terminal for me whilst we take the bags in or will i have to head to the holiday in and then shuttle back to the terminal?
Also, I presume, having selected seats online now, that I should use the online check in?
Many thanks
Jim

Hi and welcome,
There isn't any specific parking for twilight check in customers, you either get the shuttle from your hotel or park in the short stay at the airport.
Yes, it is always worth doing OLCI in my opinion.
Thanks
Neil

I always do OLCI even when staying at the airport hotel.
I keep my bags until I go over to the terminal on the day of the flight.
I just don't trust the idea of having my bag hanging around in a baggage system overnight.
Also I can't be bothered with making two journeys.
And thirdly we keep one case open at the hotel for a change of clothes.

Agreed. But...

...this I do differently. I enjoy being rid of the cases (nothing valuable in them, and the only time we "lost" a case was when we checked in "on the day"), manage a change of clothes in hand luggage and enjoy swanning through the airport the next morning with hand luggage only....

I am with Dick D, I have never used Twilight Check In as I prefer to hold on to my cases for the same reasons.

Just out of interest, which date do you fly? I'm off to CUN from Gatwick in September. Will more than likely be using twilight check in just to be rid of the cases the night before!

Twilight check in = being able to get into the clubhouse quicker in the morning

Hi jimbuoy, Neil has already answered your question, but here's my opinion: it's soooo worth it! I used twilight check-in on an EasyJet flight recently after doing online check-in, so it was just bag drop. Put a change of clothes in hand luggage and kept a toothbrush and some paste which went into my liquids bag, and bob's your uncle, next morning swanned through airport straight to security and through to departures without having to queue up for bag drop first.
We stayed at the other terminal and so just took the shuttle there and back and grabbed a meal in the terminal whilst we were at it as the queues at the hotel restaurant were long.
For early morning flights it's fantastic, I wish other airports offered the same service.

When I checked in last month there were 2 desks open - 1 for UC and the other was PE/Y - and that was about 5.15 on a friday, and no queue - but then I always like to get rid of the luggage as soon as I can

Ahh, sounds good! All things being well I should be there at a similar time. I must be honest, the thought of getting rid of the luggage early appeals somewhat. It'll make things so much easier given my hotel is on the North terminal.
