Gatwick Security - External Battery Pack

Hi all,

Thinking of picking up an external battery charger (the ones that you use to recharge your iPad iPhone on the go). Has anybody tried going through the new security with these? Can you even pack these in hold luggage and is that a better option?

I could probably do without it, but I would like to take one with me considering we are spending 3 weeks in Orlando, so any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Cr1000,

I regularly fly with an Anker battery pack in my hand luggage. I've never been queried on it, including flights to the US with the tighter security - I would assume so long as you can demonstrate it has charge (mine has an LED torch on it - or I could charge a device) then you should be fine.

I should caveat that I have not passed through LGW only LHR - but I cannot imagine any difference.

Thanks - Guy.
