I don't remember the post, but you're definitely entitled to a discount as a FC member. It's up to 7% off for Red and Ag members, and up to 10% off for Au members. Not sure if there are any extra promotions on at the moment or not. More details here: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... bmit1.x=20

Hi Wiltshire296,

Try this http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... efits.html Its in the benefit section of Flying club levels --- 7% discount for red or silver, 10% for gold.
I presume cant be used in conjuction with other offers etc!!

I think you only get the Flying club discount in store or over the phone though. If you book online then you get a web discount but it doesn't work out as well as the flying club discount for booking over the phone.

When I booked a trip to Boston last year through VH it was still cheaper to book online for me even with a 10% discount for Au FC given when booking over the phone. I think it's worth pricing up online before calling - don't assume the FC discount will automatically make it cheaper than online.

I booked a trip with Virgin Holidays yesterday and I can confirm they gave me the 7% discount. However, the lady I spoke to did say that it doesn't apply to every booking with them and certain dates do not count. Not sure how true that is though.

Also, be aware that they charge a £15 call centre fee or something when you book via the call centre.

We went into VH in our local department store. No set discount but they price matched a holiday to BGI available from another operator. We managed to get nearly 1k off the VH price.

I was about to mention that for Barbados, I've always found cheaper options using other TAs, but obviously if you can get VH to price match, then go for it. Just don't assume their initial price is a good one!

We hardly ever book via a travel agent but the priced seemed quite good, having said that the original hotel I'd chosen I've now changed my mind...to much to choose from.

At least I know they may price match and/ or offer some sort of FF discount.

We aren't going until February so we've got time to had a good look around.

Apologies, I stand corrected - thanks Steve. :)

DEFINITELY have a good look round! Not so much the high street TAs but more the specialists like TropicalSky, BestAtTravel, LetsGo2, Barbados Ambassadors etc. They are usually only to happy to try and beat the 'last' quote you got, so you can often, by degrees, beat down the price quite a long way. The flight costs are unlikely to be much of a variable from one place to another (in fact I've had many long discussions with them and they all see the same prices) so it's really a case of getting a deal on the accommodation component, and Barbados can be good for that as hotels aren't that cheap!

Something else I do if I'm not completely fixed on one date (e.g. I usually have a 2 weeks spread of dates over the easter hols) - look at the flight prices on the BA or VS websites, there's often one or 2 dates where it can come out quite a bit cheaper, and that's what I then tell the TAs to focus on.

Happy hunting...
RC

If your still undecided about hotels, have a look at the Colony Club. In February, unless they have changed policy since we got married there, its a child free hotel. Its far nicer than Sandy Lane in my opinion - check it out.
