DTCI and online check in

I hope someone can advise - I can't find the exact answer in the VS website.

I'm flying UC from LHR in October and a friend has offered to give me a lift to the airport, so I am considering booking Drive Through Check In. However I would also like to check in online at T-24 hours to secure my chosen seat and print my boarding pass at home.

Does booking DTCI prevent online check in or is it still ok? Do I get a (second) boarding card at DTCI with my chosen seat?

Thanks for any help.
Rob

hi Rob
we did online check in when flew UC last time (only got seq 12 and 13 lol) and used DTCI the next day.
seat was secured no probs.
just remember to book your slot at DTCI.

As gfonk says just make sure you book your slot at the dtci ,you can also still get your normal boarding passes even if you have printed yours off the day before

Ditto what the others have said, and don't bother printing a boarding pass, nothing quite like those purple boarding passes for UC and access to the magical clubhouse :)

I will never print my boarding pass again.
Last week I flew up to Edinburgh and printed the boarding pass at home.
The security gate had trouble reading it but did finally make it after moving me to a different scanner, but then when it came to boarding the plane neither of the scanners would play and they had to do it manually causing a bit of a hold up behind us.
I have previously used the smartphone pass and that was great but didn't know if I could do that with two passengers.
I see on Virgin news that you can now get a multiple pass on the phone so will try that next time.

I've never printed a boarding pass for any flight nor used the smartphone app. I simply hand over my passport at check-in and they print a boarding pass. Never had a problem with this approach.

All VS airport boarding passes are now the same anyway. The purple ones went a while back. There's little differentiation between Upper and other boarding cards now.

iPhone PassBook boarding passes are all different colours depending on your cabin though.

The automatic entry gates into LHR T1 security always fail to read VS PassBook/Smartphone passes. It's a fault that VS are aware of.

On the subject of DTCI...

If you are arriving by cab, how do you book your slot in advance as you have to notify VS of the drivers name and the vehicle registration number don't you? And that information will remain unknown until the cab pulls up.

You can book your arrival slot without that info as long as you phone back with it at least 30 minutes before you arrive at DTCI.

Most decent cab companies will now text you on or before arrival with the driver's name, car model, colour and registration.
