This time next week...

We all say it!

So, I'm starting a thread...

This time next week We'll be one hour out of Vegas on VS43. Hopefully very well fed and almost drowned by the fizzy fermented grape juice they provide (other beverages are available and most probably will be drunk :o) )

Still need to pack and not a packing cube in sight (bretty)!
The UC amenity bags are ready, iPad case for documents and the small ones for cash.
Must look for the camera charger.... y)

Well Darren you're not doing very well if there's no packing cubes. Have you even started sorting out gear yet, and putting outfits together?

Shorts
T-shirts
Polo shirts
Chinos
Mankini
Flip flops
Cooking oil / sun screen - depending on the look you're going for
KY ):

I'm excited for you, and of course we want a full TR including what Vegas is like so I can decide whether we're going or not.

Where are you staying by the way?

Happy travels :D

Incorrigible!

John, I don't put outfits together...it just happens and...fabulous!
In other words...I chuck it all in and hope for the best!

We're staying at the vdara, I have a panoramic suite booked...hoping for an upgrade to a penthouse as VH couldn't price a PH when we booked, they needed a week!

Bright light city gona set me soul...

A week away and not packed?
T-30 and cases are laid out on the bed in the spare room.
As the weeks go on they are packed and re-packed.
By T-7 they will have been weighed at least once.
But I have to add my part is only weighing them. I have little involvement in choosing what goes in them and none at all in the actual packing.

Ooooh love threads like this!

I'm getting mega excited too as 3 weeks from tomorrow we'll be MCO bound in BA CW, 8 days in a fab villa with fab friends who'll already be there, then AA First Class to Palm Springs for 4 days of chilling at the stunning Desert Riviera Hotel followed by 3 days with family in San Diego & a final night at the London West Hollywood, Los Angeles before BA First back on the A380! Flights on Avios I hasten to add!

Love holidays & get sooo excited in the run up! Me and Steve have new suitcases too - bright yellow and bright blue!

Have a fabulous time in Vegas Ultreen - the 'CityCenter' area around the Vdara is brilliant with loads to see and do right on your doorstep! Are you going beyond Vegas, can highly recommend Palm Springs, a scenic 3 hour drive away :)

ultreen1, I hope you two have a great time in Vegas! Tells us all about it when you're back.

We are going in November (for just 3 nights!), will be our first time in Vegas. Spent ages looking through all the hotels, but settled on the Mandarin Oriental as we thought it a safe option having been to others. The amount of choice in Suites across Vegas is amazing!

About a month ( sometimes more ) before my flight I begin to track the incoming flight to see what time it lands. Then I follow "My Flight " on the departure board to discover what gate is used , when boarding and taxiing commence, and finally I track it on take off for a bit ....... :0. Friends think I'm very sad !!!!

Hamster the MO Las Vegas is wonderful, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It's so calm, cool and serene up there.

Haven't gone that far but once when I was flying to KL on Malaysian I actually went to Heathrow 1 week before the flight on a Saturday to watch the Malaysian 747 take off.

Not sad at all hiljil, and wow wpil that's bonkers but cool!

I must admit when I have trip coming up I get antsy about wanting new luggage! I got myself a great Antler case for Japan earlier this year, and last weekend saw great deals in House of Fraser sales with luggage knocked right down and then 2 for 1 into the bargain. My OH preached restrain so I haven't, but I'm tempted...

I'm still hunting for a deal at LHR Sofitel for a Thursday in October, but have my standby hotel booked if I can't find one. Packing cubes at the ready but it's a few weeks off yet :w

If I didn't need to leave work and go straight to the train station I'd be packing after olci! I'm going to have to pack a full 36 hours before the flight! That's organised! y)

I need to resist the urge to get new luggage before each trip! Not sure why I am collecting those Tesco vouchers, especially as the luggage on offer looks a bit flimsy. Never used packing cubes before but they have been added to my birthday list. Love to be super organised with packing and very nearly always take hold luggage, in fact once I took a suitcase on a day trip to France once on the Eurostar, change of clothes shorts to suit and back again plus food, it was around the time of delays/problems on the chunnel. Better to be prepared!

Vegas crazy, we're planing Palm Springs for 2016 (Simons 30th) along with coachella and a wine tour of the napa valley. But if it's only 3 hours away we could take a look see what's all the fuss.

Hilljill, I've been tracking VS43 for a few weeks now, about this time into the flight they're just getting over Scotland...lol

I'll do the obligatory hellos from hotels and CH, that's standard now!

5 days 23 hours...

Lets talk about packing cubes for a few minutes...

:D

I think the ebags are the biz for packing. I hate everything getting mixed up in a case and if on the road, as we often are when travelling, they are a fantastic time saver and keep me organised.

But even i only start packing 3-4 days before jetting off ;)

Bretty: have you checked lastminute.com for "Secret Hotels"? I snagged the Sofitel on there for October for under a £100- though not a Thursday.

I know secret hotels is a gamble but it is usually easy to identify which is the Sofitel if it is on the list.

You can buy them on Amazon Hamster. They're brilliant. I also have a TLS motherlode weekender convertible backpack / cabin bag which is great too.

Maximus I've been looking for secret hotels but Lastminute.com is playing around with the listings, and for a couple of the top secret hotels don't list it as being at or near T5. It's on the list for my date but at £187, which is still more than I want to pay. However, try clicking on it and it won't take you through to book, whereas all the others will. Hey ho...

Want to join my countdown too? In 20 days we fly to EWR on VS1 - OH, me, eldest son and DIL, to stay in NJ with youngest son, DIL and family, to celebrate my big birthday (don't ask). Then OH and I are off to Fort Myers Beach, FL for 10 days doing nothing, return to NJ for another 10 days, then home.

And yes, TRs from all four flights and if (please cross fingers everyone) I can get those elusive Gs, from CH too. We booked back in January, didn't have flexibility on dates to enable us to get Gs so I've been checking twice a day ever since (yes really), am still hoping, FC have said last 72 hours may do it, or at check-in.

Not really started packing yet, just collecting together oddments that we're taking to the Stateside family (Yorkshire tea, Cadbury's etc). We usually get a "please bring" list of essentials they miss.

We bought new suitcases in Bloomingdale's sale while we were over there last year.
