Thank you Virgin

Dear all

this wasn't quite the post I expected to write. I recently won 2 flights on Little Red and a stay at a Doubletree from Flying Club. We went up to Edinburgh over the bank holiday. Suffice to say the flights were great, the bacon sandwich tasty, the No 1 lounge at Edinburgh was good (and empty) and the hotel very good.

However unfortunately my wife suffered a miscarriage up there and we needed to fly back early. Virgin were fantastic- from rearranging our flights with no change fee to sorting out getting my son on board on a cheaper flight to making sure we were looked after at the airport etc etc. In fact fantastic is an understatement and I emailed SRB to say so with the details of everyone who helped us- who replied with a very kind note.

My wife is ok- and she is keen that people know about how we were treated (and about miscarriage in general as well which she feels is very much 'hidden' away). The National Museum of Scotland were fantastic too- staff and place.

So thank you Virgin- you are very much first choice, as I am sure you are for everyone else on here. Just hurry up and move LR out of terminal 1.

Hi JB

Sorry to read about what's happened and I hope your wife, and you, recover from the distress from the miscarriage. And you're right, it's often not talked about and that probably makes it seem worse.

However, it gladdens me to know that in your time of need the airline came through and supported you in the right way to make things as smooth as possible in a time of distress. Well done VS.

Wishing you and your family all the best,
John

JB,

Testament to you and your family that at a time of such distress you can take the time to let VS know what a great job they did.

It's often when things are at their worst that we see how the actions of others can help.

Wishing you the very best for the future.

Marsha

So sorry to read about your sad news but I am really pleased that Virgin came up trumps when it mattered.

As Marsha said, well done to you for letting praise be heard about your treatment. So often people only think to comment when it is for negative reasons.

Best wishes to you and your wife,
hiljil

Such sad news and brave of you and your wife to feel able to post here and praise VS who deserve the publicity for the way they stepped in. So little help or support available for those suffering a miscarriage - the husband has suffered loss and is so often forgotten.

Do hope you and your wife will be able to recover from this unhappy situation soon.

Best wishes to you both

Whiterose

I'm so sorry about the miscarriage. My heart goes out to both of you.

I'm happy that Virgin didn't add to yhe stress and instead gave you both a reason to be thankful.

Thanks for putting this together, must have been difficult. Good to hear that VS (and others) came through to help.

A year or so before she died my mum spoke to my wife of her miscarriage in 1960. For 50 years she'd not told a soul about it, except my dad.

Just to echo everyone else - truly sorry to hear what happened but glad VS came through for you. They get a lot of flak - sone of it deserved, some not - but it's at times like this they prove they have a heart where some of the bigger, corporate airlines might not.

You'll be delighted to hear LR moved out of T1 this week by the way!

Again my condolences and thoughts mate. Glad to hear that VA pulled through for you! It's always good that some companies know when to pull out the proper red carpet treatment when they need to!
