You know that feeling when....

I always have a few days of panic just before our holidays......convincing myself I've forgotten something...this has started today......

We start our holiday on Monday, domestic flight with BA Newcastle to Heathrow, overnight stay, then off to San Francisco on Tuesday on the VS19.

3 nights there, then off to Las Vegas for 7 nights at the Cosmopolitan - celebrating my 40th birthday while there.....should be fun!!

But today I've started the panic? Have I forgotten to do something? Have I booked everything? I've done the double checking of passports, ESTA's money, tickets. I'm ready for on-line check-in, all girly things done yesterday - toenails, legs etc :D

I wish I could just relax and chill before we go, anyone else get like this? :? :?

Hi .
Just taken a break from packing and ticking off / adding to lists to look at V-Flyer and I discover a like soul. We fly out Monday too & I'm desperately checking & re-checking plugs, leads ,adaptors ,charging batteries as well as studying documentation. Why can't I believe my original gathering together has got everything together and the e-tickets aren't suddenly going to jump out the wallet of their own volition ?!!! :0

Have a great flight and holiday sgilly74 and many happy returns ! :D

I'm actually starting my trip tomorrow morning (have just booked the taxi for 5.15am... ][|) ). Heading to Barcelona for the weekend before "continuing" my journey to Beijing via LHR with BA ):

I'm sort of packing for 2 journeys, with the added complication of planning on leaving the checked in case at Barcelona airport for 2 days (saving us dragging it around the city). Going to Beijing to see family, too, so the upside is that if we forgot something, it's not a huge problem (I can always try and fit into my clothes from the teenage years :| ) but the downside is that if I forget any of the things that I've promised to bring back to people over the last many months, then I'll never hear the end of it. :#

Packing cubes at the ready though (thanks Bretty, I'm loving them), it'll all be ok, I'm sure.

Funnily my worst feeling comes when I'm leaving on the last day of my holiday for the drive back to the airport.(350 miles)
On my way out I'm OK as I have checked everything so many times.
Still 5 months to go and I have airport hotels at both ends of the outward journey, ESTAs new driving licence, tickets, accommodation in S.C.
Only have to book the taxi and hire car, but I'm waiting on my Amex black before I pay for the car.
Have a great trip.

I know all is well when I glance down at the other half's feet and discover he is not wearing his slippers.

This happened to us once about 20 years ago when we were driving to the airport with 3 small children in tow and it was too late to turn back :|
Never forgotten or forgiven v(

To take a page from Edina monsoons book!!! (Ab Fab)

TICKETS, MONEY, PASSPORTS!!!

Of cousre that has changed slightly for the modern day, but I always say as I leave the house...Tickets, Money, Passports!

I must say, this time around we didn't forget the camera charger...just the adapter to be able to charge it in the states!

This reminds me of my first trip to the USA. I had made friends from another forum not too dissimilar to VF in terms of friendliness and helpfulness (and who 15 years later are still friends). I asked what I should take and was told "Passport and credit cards" :o)

OK, so there are extras like ESTAs and visas but it taught me that no obstacle is unsurmountable and if you look at my disaster-ridden TRs not one of them featured anything I had forgotten when leaving home and indeed the nearest to that was the purse on the flight from ORK-LHR :|

So folks, lighten up! Treat everything as an adventure and remember, for every problem there is a solution. |:)

Yep - I'm exactly the same, in fact I start about two weeks before - running around and panicking about getting everything done before we leave!
It's mad because we always get there in the end!
Have a wonderful holiday!

Im the same, always assume one minor thing will go wrong, once it's out of the way I can relax!

This time round, it went wrong before we even left, because I'm an idiot, I managed to book the hotel for the wrong month! We are leaving for the US in September but don't get to our final hotel until the second half of October. I got an email from the hotel yesterday telling me I was expected to check in, was I still coming? Fortunately, a couple of quick emails got me rebooked for a month later with a small surcharge because we're in Key West during Fantasy Fest! No stupidity charge for the missed booking, big thanks to Coconut Beach Resort on Key West! :-)

I am very variable when it comes to packing. Sometimes I do it all the night before (and then invariably over-pack and forget something), or start weeks (and I mean weeks) before and then usually all runs well.

Of course now I use cubes packing is revolutionised ;)

I also got some great packing tips from my favourite Youtube channel (Soniastravels):

I can't relax until I've remembered what I have forgotten either to pack or do at home (I always remember to bleach the toilets though).

When I have remembered the minor forgotten item or duty then I start to relax.

I'm fortunate in some ways as we have friends who house sit but then I'm running around like a headless chicken re-cleaning the house.

Loyalty cards for Heathrow Rewards, Boots etc.
