Things you do when you cannot sleep...

Book yourself on to VS3044 on the final day of LR operations.

Anyone else fancy joining me?

Gah well my well intentioned if impulse booking slightly backfired as I have now realised that its NOT the last LR flight and there is a return at 20:10 VS3045 LHR - MAN.

Is there enough time between outbound and inbound of the above to make it back through for the other? Would you have to go back landside to come back airside etc?

Yes you would have to go landside and then back through security. Arrivals & departures at T2 are completely segregated.

I think you have to enter security at least 20 mins before scheduled departure time, otherwise you won't be allowed through. So with a 45 minute turnaround in theory it's feasible, but if the 3044 is late arriving you'll be cutting it very fine.

I am booked on to the 3044 on 28/3.
Would be good to have a mini v-flyer get together.

Not entirely true...
You do not have to go landside, or go through security.

If you hold the return BP already (eg. Issued at initial departure point), then you can follow the sign up the stairs/escalator for "Terminal 2 connections" after exiting the plane in T2. This branches you away, before the baggage collection point.
Much like arriving on a domestic flight into T5 and transferring, you pass through just one check point, for BP scan (and photo biometric ID, as its a domestic flight next) and then your deposited airside T2. (Directly opposite gate A21, so remarkably close to the LR gates!)

I don't know the minimum conformance time to be allowed through this point, hand baggage only. But this is the correct path for a domestic-to-domestic transfer at T2. Modelled on the T5 system, where domestics are considered 'safe' with no need to pass through security again. But you do need your onward BP.. There is no customer service desk nearby to issue you one.

Aha, I stand corrected!

Still wouldn't want to risk it on a 45 minute turnaround though. There's probably a 95% chance you'll be fine but if the 3044's late arriving conformance could catch you out. There are tales of woe over on Flyertalk from indignant BA FFs who've been caught out at T5.

OK I have to ask: Why?

Sentimentality? Tier points chasing? Boredom? ?|

I have never flown (and now never shall fly) Little Red but is it not just a bus in the sky shuttle?

A mixture of the first two, a nice little boost for the miles and a few TPs, booked a hotel in Manc that I love and we are probably gonna end up out on Canal St after arrival back in Manc so keeps it more than just a flight!!
