Can anyone tell me how the silver (up to 7%)discount works if booking online?

I am thinking maybe I need to call them but then I may loose my on-line booking discount

i think you need to book by phone to get the FC discount - i.e. no online discount

^To be applicable for this discount, you need to have been a Flying Club member for at least a month, prior to making your booking with Virgin Holidays. Also you will only receive your discount and miles when you make your booking over the dedicated phone lines or via your local retail store, not online.

From the FCmembers page

It's also worth mentioning that you will not receive 7% from the web price. They will take away any online discount applied then deduct your flying club discount. It will pretty much end up the same or cost more as usually online offers around 10%. Also you are charged an admin fee for booking via the call centre. I think this is £25 but I may be wrong.

Swings and roundabouts I'm afraid.

Also booking online means you can click via one of the cash-back websites and earn cash-back on top of the online discount (Quidco currently offering between 1.5 - 4% cash-back). I've seen the cash-back as high as 5% for VHols on Quidco from time to time.

Always phone them and see what the discounted price is. Each time I have done it it has worked out cheaper than booking online so we have done it over the phone, but I am sure there are cases where that isn't the case, so always check both.
