Cheap Miles with Little Red - no just Decker being stupid

Can't see this elewhere - apologies to mods if I've missed it.

So VS have dropped the maileage required for reward flights to 2,500 and £34. If you're Au you'll get 4,000 miles for this. So you're effectively paying £34 for 1,500 air miles. Given that 1,000 cost £30 this seems like quite the deal. Of course that £30 is loaded with the initial £15 charge but if you wanted to do EDI etc on the cheap and get mile this seems like quite the deal.

Except you wouldn't earn any miles for a reward redemption.

Nonetheless 2,500 miles plus £34 is a very good deal if you're Au.

Hi Decker,

I'm received an email from VS yesterday stating the following

"As a Flying Club Gold member you'll benefit when booking a Little Red Reward flight. Normally a return flight would cost 7,500 miles however we have reduced this to only 2,500 miles plus £34 fees*. To make a booking call our reservations team on (UK) 0344 209 7777 (and we'll waive the £7 telephone booking fee).

And there's more. We're increasing the miles you'll earn on Little Red routes^ from 1,500 to 2,000 miles for each return flight you take. Add on your Gold tier bonus of another 2,000 miles+ and you'll be earning a huge 4,000 miles for each Little Red return booking."

From what I understand

Reduced reward flights now 2500miles + £34 taxes

Greater mileage earned when taking revenue flights, was 1500miles now 2000miles + 100% AU bonus 2000 = 4000miles earned per return on LR.

Yup that was the email :). Funnily I took a reward flight to the Fringe this year - lots of availability unlike BA on the same route.
