V-Flyer

Hi,

In the past I have spent my Virgin miles on rewards flights in UC with my wife which has been an amazing experience.

The good news is that we are pregnant, and I was wondering if it is worthwhile to continue saving VA miles. How easy is it to book a reward flight which includes a baby under 2? Is it even possible.

Obviously I wouldn't fly with such a young child in UC. It wouldn't be fair on the other passengers (I could just imagine the looks) but perhaps PE? What are your thoughts?

I thought under 2 can go free if they share your seat.
If you plan to seat share then UC would be the better cabin.
We came back from the states last year in UC and there was a young baby in the cabin. I have to say I was a bit apprehensive, especially since it was a Gatwick flight with only 14 seats in the cabin so all a bit cosy. Anyway the parents, cabin crew and baby were all brilliant.
I'm hoping my son and his wife will take the plunge with their 4 yr. old and 18 month old in Feb to join us on holiday. (On a different flight)

I just tried a dummy booking on miles and it was happy to add one infant under 2 for no miles.

Firstly congratulations
Can't think why you would avoid UC, by far the best place to be with a baby. You are fully entitled to be there, lots do and you will find the service/help second to none.
Start as you mean to go on. Flying with a baby is actually less traumatic than a 3-4 year old, hey we had mini NH out to CPT at 8 weeks and many on here do so regularly.
Seen loads of babies on numerous routes in UC, you'll get no grief, just remember we were all one once.
Would tend to be the self centred corporate type flying on someone else's money with a overly high self importance that would moan and the CC will be well used to that type.

Never let your child hinder what you would of normally done..

Just a little more encouragement SJC, we flew UC to NY last month, a young couple had a sweet little 8 month old, they were busy keeping him entertained with lots of help from CC but no problems for them AFAIK and certainly none for other pax. Returned this week, again in UC, rather lively toddler with just mother, overnight flight, some crying, but no-one complained.

I think it is likely to be easier with a baby than an active toddler, but we were all babies once and many if not most have had kids in tow when travelling.
