How long is too long in the Clubhouse?

Morning!

I'm flying with my BFF from London to JFK on Christmas eve.

BFF is flying in from Europe and arriving 09:00 and we were scheduled to fly out on the 14:35 flight to JFK. I figured that would give a nice few hours for brekkie and chilling in the CH.

The 14:35 flight has now been cancelled :(! and we're re-booked to leave at 20:05. Really annoying as we now won't get to our destination in NY until the early hours and will miss the evening with family.

I've only been in the CH once before, for around 1.5 hours, and that was fine. Will we get bored with a full day? I know we can pop in and out, so do the shops, but it still seems long.

I'd happily spend 4 or 5 hours in there but 10 or 11 might be pushing it!

Maybe go into London for the day?

You can fit in breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Book a spa treatment, have a few drinks and people watch. Watch TV and visit the duty free shops. Its surprising how quickly time passes in the Clubhouse. I am sorry you will miss Christmas Eve with the family.

Thanks guys

Not sure I really want to go into London and face the Christmas Eve shopping crowds!

We'll have a fair bit of luggage between the two of us; any idea how early can we check those bags in and not have to lug them around?

You can check your bags in for any LHR VS flight that day from when check-in opens, which is from around 06:15ish.

The LHR CH opens at 07:00.

Just done a dummy booking and they are selling seats on the 12.00 and 17.35 DL flight so they should have offered you that as an alternative. You don't just have to accept what they offer you as an alternative.

The 10.35 DL service is also available but that might be a too tight connection for your friend depending on which terminal they arrive into.

Suggest you do a dummy booking and see what the other alternatives are on offer and get back to them with one that works for you.

Hmm. Will have to think about this. My last Delta flight was a nightmare (they cancelled first flight, then they cancelled the re booked flight) and I'm keen not to repeat the experience . Wasn't impressed at all with the customer service either.

Also, they fly out of a different terminal, so would we wouldn't be able to access the VS CH.

Decisions, decisions.

Stick with what you have and enjoy the day in CH

A number of Delta flights, including those to JFK, now depart from T3.

Well, it'll likely be a day in the clubhouse after all.

These were reward seats, and there's currently no availability (for both of us) on any earlier flight. I'll check again nearer the time though.

Plan your drinking so you aren't refused boarding!

Haha. Will do.

Might have to stick my credit card in my packed luggage too so I don't buy out duty free.

I've managed about 9 hours (when the late departure SYD flights were running :0 ). If you fancy terminal hopping (to do some shopping elsewhere :w ) this may be of help

Just pace yourself - steam room, jacuzzi, a treatment (or two) eating , drinking , shopping...
Have a great Christmas :)
