Went surprisingly well actually , after a few red wines over Sunday dinner in the Lake District I thought it's now or never and I don't think she was too bothered to be honest !
Might have cost me a few quid though as Xmas in New York was mentioned ! :(!

You have a wonderful wife Mr B :) ( and at last this time she's had a bit of notice :w ).
A trip to NY ( sans Blacky Jnrs ) is surely deserved? :)

That bit in bold would worry me! Perhaps she has something more expensive in mind ...... like a divorce settlement! ):

You are an extremely lucky man Blacky. She probably took it well because this is the longest notice you've given so far. Or maybe she's secretly joined v-flyer and wasn't surprised.

Ps. The trip to NY in December had better be UC or CW.

Well done Blacky, glad you're still breathing and no appendages have been violently removed lol. Yes, NYC at Xmas would be perfect.

Why pray, isn't she going to BOS with you?

Wasn't invited !!
No seriously we have four kids and trying to get them sorted when we go away is a nightmare which is why we rarely go away together , to be fair I did tell her a while back I would be going on the new dreamliner at some point ,I think she is looking forward to a few days without me anyway :o)

Frankly I'd be suprised there would be much to gain from a divorce apart from a half share of Blacky's collection of non-changeable Zs, can't leave a lot left over given those frequent 'investments' :-)

Although obviously, to all us downtrodden men out there, you are our hero!

NY around Christmas time is definitely worth a visit. We timed our autumn visit later a couple of years ago so we were there for Thanksgiving and still there in early December. Wonderful row of trees outside the Rockefeller Centre all strung with lights, huge Christmas tree, Macy's windows each filled with animated scenes (think Heath Robinson or Ronald Searle).

And of course you'll be treating Mrs Blacky to a visit to Tiffany's won't you. I was taken there for my birthday and no-one had any atoning to do!

Bit off-topic, but I've been considering a trip new NY in early January (probably just after New Year). I'm put off by concerns about the weather though; I don't mind it being cold, and a bit snowy would be cool to experience, but I'm worried about the prospect of heavy snowstorms leading to a) a less than awesome week away and b) getting stuck the wrong side of the Atlantic for a few days. Any v-flyers able to offer opinions on this?

Not forgetting a trip to Radio City Music Hall for a quite surreal show...

Glad you raised that, I've often wondered about going then but been a bit concerned about snowstorms and getting stuck!
